Awful Bluetooth

Has anyone experienced terrible bluetooth performance from this phone? Mine will disconnect while talking and often will say it's "connected" where it is not connected. I can make a call and talk for a half an hour with no problem and then hang up and try to make another call and the stupid thing won't connect again. I'm on my second Epic (not for this issue) and they both behaved exactly the same. It may be my bluetooth device which is now pretty old (Plantronics 590A/E). Are you guys finding the bluetooth to be stable or not?

Re: Awful Bluetooth

I'm running the Plantronics 510 (it's about 3 years old) and it connects and maintains its' connection just fine. Now if you wanna talk about static I'm all ears (is that a bad pun). Occasionally I'll get a bad case of static and it seems I feel the need to turn down the overall volume. Since it's an issue that comes and goes and I'm really not interested in running an in depth scientific experiment wherein I purchase a slew of different headsets and run them through their paces I'll live with it.

late,
Coz

I am 100% agree with your statement about it. This post is really nice, it helps people to share their ideas about Bluetooth. I hope that people will really like this details.

Re: Awful Bluetooth

My bluetooth seems to work better than it did on any palm and winmo phone I've had. I have not had a problem with disconnects, static or sound quality.

I currently use a BlueAnt Q1 when I am not in my car and the Epic 4g works flawlessly for phone calls in my Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

The only Bluetooth problems I have had are with streaming music. When I try to use a2dp fucntions, they only seem to work when the music player is on the screen and not when it is run from the launcher and the music widget. I have also had to disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth on occasion because no sound is played when streaming music.

So good for phone, mediocre for streaming music.

Thanks! So have you experienced this problem with your bluetooth as well?

WHEN the bluetooth is connected, there is no more noise than any other phone I've used. The issue is connecting and staying connected.

I also have issues with staying connected even when it says it's connected. I actually posted this in the General Samsung Galaxy Thread and also on the sprint forums in case you want to chime in there to get a fix going and to 'escalate' the issue with them.

Re: Awful Bluetooth

Another update. I have another bluetooth device which is a Jabra 3030. Same exact problem. Real disappointment. Obviously the problem is the phone and not the bluetooth device.

Re: Awful Bluetooth

I have the same problem. When I am on a call using my car bluetooth, the bluetooth frequently disconnects while the actual phone call is still intact. Has anyone experiencing this problem tried returning the phone, getting a new Epic, and testing the bluetooth connection? I'm wondering if this is only a problem with a small batch of handsets or whether it is an Epic-wide problem. I also have a wi-fi connection problem where the wi-fi signal strength bar is almost nil despite being right next to the wi-fi router...

Re: Awful Bluetooth

I'm having a bluetooth switching problem. When I listen to music in my car through the 3.5mm jack, and a phone call comes in, the phone will not route the call to my earpiece (which is on and connected) instead it will play through the car and since there's no mic it's a problem.

I just bought a newer "up to date" Motorola S9-HD headset. Same crap. It seems just a bit better than the other headsets, but nowhere near acceptable. Just today I had to attempt to re-pair the headset 3 times. Sometimes I get a message saying "unable to detect any headset". Sometimes, "pairing rejected by device". Others, it says it's connected and it is actually not connected. This is really a poor showing for such an otherwise sophisticated phone. I can't believe this got past their testing (Oh, what testing??).

I have not experienced the Wifi signal problem. It sounds like your Epic may actually be defective.
