Re: 10/1 dI18 update here

Anyone have the update having any problems? I got the update OTA and have been having nothing but problems. I've tried a factory reset since the update as well.

Since the update:
I show as getting my usual reception in the house, I see the 3g icon but it never connects.
WiFi can be turned on, shows a connection, grabs an IP. Internet browsing works, but market place will not download anything. After a couple mins, regardless of activity WiFi turns itself off.
Phone is also getting way hotter then it did before.

Going outside to test 3g speeds (no 4g in my area), download in general is slower across the board (15 tests each to multiple locations close to me) and well upload does start with a higher spike then before, it still doesn't cross the 170 avg barrier for me.
Use my EVO to the same speedtest locations, download is now twice as fast as the speeds I'm getting on the epic and upload is still 600+ compared to 170max...

Are you running a different kernel, I am and that is my issues right now I avg 170up and that is right next to a sprint tower, but for me that is ok I will wait till the o/c kernel gets updated.

The DI18 needs the stock kernel to uncap the 150

Re: 10/1 dI18 update here

people having update issues try this, very easy to use.
DI18 update for non-stock files/kernels - *now with deodexed ROM!* - xda-developers

this will put stock kernal back with di18 update, up speeds are 1015 for me. was on fluff kernal with update speeds are slower(not oc kernal) but got 16hrs on one charge. gonna check batter life with this setup plus this updates modems.

Re: 10/1 dI18 update here

Just a helpful reminder.....when doing the button combo, to put the phone into recovery mode, you have to keep holding all 3 buttons down (vol down, camera and power) until the SAMSUNG splash screen appears and disappears. Oh, and one more tip.....once you're in recovery mode, if the text is BLUE, then you are in the stock recovery. If the text is GREEN, then you have clockwork mod installed. Thanks for everyone else's great tips!

I am stock still, didn't want to root the phone until I was sure I was keeping it. Since the update the phone gets extremely warm now when using 3g. I've had the blackscreen lock up 7 or 8 times now. I may just go and exchange for another Epic (I love the screen......)

Re: 10/1 dI18 update here

This is probably a dumb question, but if I rooted should I use the official update or the one that doesn't mess with the kernel? I don't think I've done anything else.

If the only thing you did is root...then you can do the official update..rooting does not seem to be effected and carries over.
