How long till custom roms?

Any guesses as to how long it will take to get custom roms out for the Epic? I don't expect them overnight or anything, just wondering how long it usually takes after a phone is released and rooted for people to start cooking up new roms. I can't wait to see what people come up with, and really want 2.2 on my phone.
