Re: Epic 4G One Click Root & ClockworkMod [RFS & EXT4]

64...I made sure I installed the correct drivers 'cuz that was my initial headache last night since most of the drivers my friend and I found were 32 bit.

We tried using a usb hub on my friend's laptop and it didn't make a difference. Right now I'm making more progress with my laptop anyhow. I was able to get it to install the usb drivers where I couldn't even get his to do that doing the same processes I did with mine with the corresponding drivers. I've tried using a usb hub with my laptop and my computer won't recognize the phone at all.

Is there any specific reason why sprint forced samsung to remove the epic from kies?

All drivers and whatnot are uninstalled now.

Anyways..first of all is your pc 32bit or 64bit? and are you using 32bit drivers or 64bit drivers?

Have you tried using a usb hub?

next...try uninstalling all drivers, kies and everything..install proper drivers, restart your phone, enable usb debugging..now plug in the phone on the bottom right it should be installing 4 drivers to that usb port..which drivers does it install?

So I've re-installed the usb drivers after uninstalling everything. The drivers that it said that installed were CDMA Technologies, Samsung Mobile Modem Diagnostic Serial and Samsung mobile modem as well as a little blurb at the bottom that said port WDM COM3. The version of the USB driver that was installed was v.1.3.450.0

Still not recognizing it :/

Cause Samsung gave you a lot of things for free which Sprint wanted to charge you money for...ex. That Asphalt 5 game was suppose to be full version and its in the kies market as a full version, sprint loads you up a demo and forces you to buy it.

Kies even includes a way to tether so other manufacturers forced Samsung to make Kies mini...but Sprint said no Kies at all..

do oyu have usb debugging enabled? when you plug it in with usb debugging it should install adb drivers..the thing on the bottom right when you click on it tells you which drivers were installed. IF something faisl to install..go into device manager and install the drivers manually.

I do have debugging enabled. Apparently it's failing to install the adb driver. Where can I typically find that driver to manually install it?

go into device manager. choose to install and pick location manually..navigate to the 16_shrewberry folder.

It's not giving me the option to install, just update and uninstall. When I try to update, it tells the the best drivers are already installed.

on the right corner on the notification bar when you plug it in with usb debugging enabled there is a small pc icon with a green dot..when you clcik it..it should give you 4 drivers it attempts to install..I don't rememebr them all off the top of my head but CDC and ADB are 2 of the 4 drivers it attempts to install..do you see that the moment you plug it into a new usb port (that it hasnt been plugged into before)

The manual method works when it fails to install the drivers and they show up yellow in device manager.

free pdanet app will also install drivers (adb) for you so also a option that works on w7 64.

It's never attempted to install 4 drivers, just the 3 that I mentioned before.

Download PdaNet

I downloaded the program and installed the drivers, and it did not install the adb drivers or detect the phone after I plugged it in.

The problem I'm having is I can't even get the device manager to show ADB or Android in the list like it shows on the site...
