what are the advantages of the genocide rom over the twilight?

Yes journaling is a must..unless you really know how to take care of it..I had journaling off for 2 months with no issues..until I was in a hurry and did the 4 button reset rather then regular shutdown then boom it hard reset itself due to data corruption lol...

Gingerbread is android 2.3, Froyo is 2.2..with 2.2 we have more customizations as we have source code and more development has been doen to tweak it...2.3 is the bleeding edge which offers new stuff at the price of "some" stability and development..depending on your usage...

Genocide kernel is not a rom, its a kernel..in winmo we had kernels built into the roms, but in android we can flash them separately if we choose to..overall I jsut found Genocide more stable, has more new features(due to the kernel being newer), and it allows for under-clocking.

o ok, im learning and understanding more and more everyday thanks! yea i think id rather stick with 2.2 right now until im more familiar with android. i meant genocide kernel not rom lol. i downloaded it yesterday morning but never flashed it. the creator is working on a new kernel as well, wont be long before a beta version im guessing. now im off to skim the kernel thread again and flash it.

what do i use to undervolt? is it necessary? ive been using setcpu on "conservative" to oc. while reading the geno kernel yesterday i remember him saying something about some other app thats better than setcpu but it all sounded like one big complication to me. lol

From what people are saying SetCPU does not work well..there is Voltage Control and forgot the other on but it has pimp in the name :/...

UV = under volting aka gives you better battery life..
OC = overclock, makes our CPU run faster (often time requires more energy)

Yea voltage control is the app he was talking about. I guess I will give it a shot. I don't know what settings our whatever to use though. Well I'm up and running on genocide kernel! :)

EDIT: I seem to have everything running nicely, was pretty simple too. ive got

ACS Frozen w/journaling. TW671 blue glass theme that i modded just a bit

Genocide kernel OC'd to 1.2Ghz. UV'd -100mV in the 100-800Mhz range and UV'd -50mV in the 1Ghz - 1.2Ghz range.

so far everything is running just fine, snappy, no force closes or anything. oh yea and its pretty too lol. im pretty satisfied. now that i have a nice rom, tweaked kernel, and eye candy, im off to see what else i can play around with. thats after i make a backup with cwm of course. ;)

o, i almost forgot! one issue i need to look into is the wifi router app. when i try and use it, my phone reboots... so im off to look into that first.

if you don't need inferstructure tethering use the version thats on the Android market (aka 2.x, not 3.x), IF you nee 3.0, clear app data and see..

As for your UV settings..thats a bit aggressive as a start lol..(not saying that they are not possible as I had higher UV settings on my config)..but usually you want t odo aroudn 25mV per frequency and then see if phone is stable for a few hours (aka no freezes)..and you keep upping by 25mV until you get a freeze, then lower the settings on the frequency wich caused the freeze and so on till you get the best settings...every phone undervolts differently..

Wireless tether 2.0.7 works fine! I'm using voltage control. I have every stage set to -50 for right now. Ill play around with it for a while

ok, lets start from the beginning..when you plug in the phone..what happens? does it say "unknown usb device"..or do you see on the right a computer saying installing drivers? if so how many drivers do you see finish installing?

Do you use xp? vista? win7? 32bit? 64bit?
