Anyone know a good car charger to use while GPS is on?

I know that the energy drain is a lot higher when using GPS/streaming music in my car. My retractable charger just isn't putting up enough juice.

Anyone know a good charger (preferably retractable but its probably asking too much) that looks decent and can keep the phone juiced up? I know some phones limit the charge to 500ma if it doesn't recognize the charger and not sure whether the galaxy is restricted as well.

There have been several threads discussing battery life and chargers and the consensus is that a 1.0A charger should give you a little more juice that the .7A charger that comes with the Epic without damaging your phone. I have seen a couple people ask if a 2.0A charger would be too much but I have yet to see anyone come back with a definitive yes or no. Since the phone charges off of a micro-USB cable it should be pretty simple to find a car charger with a USB port that has the amperage that you want.

I found this in about 10 seconds on Google:

Newegg.com - Rosewill RCP-32TU USB Car Charger with 2 USB Port at 1 Amp

Problem is what the product is rated at and actual output are usually totally different :(

I have a 2.1A mini USB charger that I know for sure barely puts out 1A, if even that.

I was hoping someone had a good experience with a reliable one, but guess I'll just bite the bullet and hope for some luck on a random one.

Anyone know how many amps the OEM sprint chargers are from the sprint store?

Thanks. Hmm, I wonder if I should buy a 1 amp charger. I got this OEM sprint one off of ebay for 5 bucks.

I have a 1 Amp charger that I keep in my truck and it works great.

Go to your nearest local Radio Shack. You will find a small power inverter for like 30bucks... comes with one usb port and 1 receptacle for handle up to 75watts. I get the same output as a wall charger... plug it in your cigarette lighter socket and use the cable that came with your phone....

Edit: that charger outputs 1A

I fried my phone using 5A... I recommend don't go over 1.5

Sent while your mom was putting her clothes on.

Could be the ROM i'm running (midNIGHT) but my phone loses charge slightly when plugged into the OEM car dock and using GPS.

I use a Motorola car charger, it works very well considering the price. It's rated at 950mA too, as opposed to the stock charger's 700mA.
