WM7: LG Apollo, HTC Obsession and OS info
We have two sources giving us details on the new OS, including device specs on the LG Apollo and HTC Obsession.
"Windows Mobile 7: What we expect and what we are hearing" Hopefully that'll quench your rumor thirst for the day, lol. -mal |

But here's my hunch: look at what MS has done in the past when they want to heavily compete in a market in which they are way behind. Specifically, think of one platform and their business model: XBox Their model was to sell the hardware below cost and woo developers (cue Ballmer, lol). That is, MS ate the cost difference on the XBox in order to gain market penetration. And by golly it worked. To put in perspective, MS did not even turn a profit on the XBox platform till mid 2008--six years after release and after they lost, literally, hundreds of millions of dollars. I'm not saying I know MS will do the same with Seven, but I sure as hell would not be shocked. They have the pockets to do it and they are stubborn MoFos when they decided to do something. Shoot, I kind of hope they do that. Put dream tech into the hands of ordinary people at below cost? That would crush their competitors or at least drain their resources. A wart of attrition, lol. Re: WM7: LG Apollo, HTC Obsession and OS info
very good and researched article
however I have some doubts. If microsoft is slating a media edition 7 by 2011 and a business os for 2010 wouldn't that ideally mean 4 oses for mobile users to play with 6.5 6.6 7 media 7 business by mid 2011? that's a lot to me...from one company but in some ways its a bit intelligent in that it offers market diversity and simple solutions to manufacturers. Unless windows plans on phasing 6.5 due to its lackluster reception. But even still unique I recall having a convo with chainfire of xda developers, and he argued that (at the time) the "flagship" device (for coding purpose) was a samsung i780. This raises some questions with relation to the coding specification of the business os (as I assume this was what he analyzed) all that aside its a unique emphasis but also one stress of cloud computing - which is catch 22. Helpful but yea... I guess we will have to see february and eveyrthing... great article |

I wonder if that is actually WM7 or just leaks from like a year or two ago?

The hardware info was from the last few weeks. In fact, we had the LG specs before they said at CES they would release Seven device(s) in 2010 and before that tweet mentioning September. That's what perked our motivation to run that story. |

I would be more than happy to pay $1000 for those specs. I'm kind of skepticle on this not because the source is unreliable because it is but because It almost seems too good to be true.
