HTC Sense coming to Windows Phone 7 afterall

http://tinyurl.com/233qdgj

Looks like HTC is coming through once again FTW!!

Some cried and some cheered when Microsoft revealed that handset manufacturers couldn't reskin Windows Phone 7 devices wholesale. But as it turns out, at least one major OEM is still banking on software to help differentiate its phones. HTC's Drew Bamford told Forbes that Sense UI will still appear in the company's Windows Phone 7 creations, and believes it will live on in Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) as well. "Microsoft has taken firmer control of the core experience," acknowledged Bamford, who added that Sense wouldn't be fully integrated into WP7 phones, but that HTC would "augment" the Microsoft experience with as-yet-undisclosed functionality of its own. As long as it doesn't eat up too much memory and processor time, right?

Too bad. I've seen screenshots of this horrible thing called "Sense", and I don't know if you can just use a CAB to fix it back to "Manila Mode" in Windows Mobile 7...

Lol, those are a settings screen within sense. Sure it is a part of sense, but that is not considered to be the main sense screen at all. That was only the alarm settings, nothing more.

Sense may be cool looking in the form of its TouchFlow 3D today screen plugin, but it does all this other damage to the device. Is it worth it?

Well considering the entire concept of sense really revolves around the simple clock with integrated weather then yah I do believe so.

I am not crazy about the how everything on wp7 "seems" to be thrown together on for a home screen, but I also haven't seen how well it goes together to really make up my mind. So until I really hold one or at least see how well it might work I am kind of holding my judgement on wp7 by itself.

No, see previously quoted link. Sense does damage as well as a fancy TouchFlow 3D plugin.

Dude you seem like a fricken troll, Sense on WP7 will likely be revamped for the new look and feel of WP7. Noone has seen it yet on 7 your just basing your opinion off of 6.5 and lower. Wait till its out to post your thoughts on this. And I agree w Darren, you make no sense!

I know - I'm just saying how in the other thread we were talking about other bad things that sense does to parts of your device BESIDES THE HOMESCREEN (like it does all that toilet paper scrolling - see link above) and how if this infects Windows Mobile 7 before it is even out, that's gonna be really really sad.

More reason to keep waiting and not jump ship right? I'll keep watiting but I have a feeling wp7 isn't going to be as wonderful as it should. It'll probably be more of the same with more bells and whistles. I could be (and hope) wrong, but I just have a feeling....

The only thing that HTC's Sense has done to mess up WM is the MMS Messaging in custom rom's didn't work(which has now been fixed and wasn't a problem with Stock rom's with Sense). Other than that, HTC Sense does nothing to mess up anything and your are not giving any good examples to justify coming in a unrelated thread and dirtying it up with nonsense(no pun intended). The only major difference in between Touchflo3D and Sense is animated weather, better quicklinks and an expanded scroll bar with more options. Can you provide more detail on what you have witnessed? Not just read about, but actually witnessed.

Yes--

I've been following this thread, reading your rants, yet I still don't know what your complaints about Sense are.

Anyway, since WM7 (and any version of Sense that will run on it), is new and being built from the ground up, I think it's premature to jump to conclusions.

dont even bother trying to reason with ^^^ this one fellas, according to his profile hes 15, hard to reason with kids these days!

looking forward to see how much htc can do with wp7. loved sense on wm, sense on android was nice but didnt do enough better than things that can be downloaded individually from the market. i mean my x essentially looks exactly like my incredible did. hope they can really differentiate themselves on wp7 despite the shackles m$ has put on them

LOL! Calm down. I don't want any SA 14 year old telling me anything either. I guess, to answer your question, there is no definitive "normal" way to use an OS. Everyone has different uses for it, and before you start gettin' all mad, I'll clarify that: When someone gets a computer, a smartphone, or any smart device, not all will use it for the same thing. You may use a computer primarily for browsing the internet, but someone else may use it solely for the purpose of testing USB mice, or a diagnostic purpose. To tie this to WM, someone might normally use Windows Mobile 6 for downloading a few apps to the device, syncing it up, and calling people, but someone else might solely use it as a phone. This type of person would be ideal for the primitive platform that Windows Mobile 7 promises so far, but WM7 does have a hardware and "eye candy" advantage (their "hardware requirements" list some nice specs - what a shame).

I'm not gonna be able to fix it for you if thats what you want, I'm not MS, I'm not a developer either. What YOU use it for is up to you, so no need to get all mad about it :).

Have a nice day.
