We'd all love to cook up some roms but noone with the skillz seems to have taken up much interest in the phone (untill now ). For the most part we've had to make do with epix/i780 stuffs and other bits gleaned from other phones.

Great, spread the word if you can I'm already spread pretty heavily across here and samsung-omnia.org with my own subforum, so I am unreliable to post at other places. I'm an amateur, but I have the desire to help.

Re: Working on Making the Saga ROM Ready for Cooking

Few thoughts –
First up- THANKS! I'm very interested myself.
Forgive my ignorance- but once you get the file you are missing- can’t we just reverse it all and stuff it back in the exe file? Or would the method that the beta omnia rom gets loaded work?
I’m not uber adventurous but I’d almost certainly be the second guy in line- laughing. Or if you get something that you feel very comfy will work then I might have a go at it.
I did some reading and fiddling on this before to learn how to extract from the xv6800rom to steal some dll’s to try and unlock the saga gps but it’s been a while. Is there a “cooking a rom for dummies” link someplace that I can refresh at? I’ve got vacation in a couple weeks so I can really fiddle than.

To extract imgfs.src you might want to check Ebag333's post at
http://www.wmexperts.com/articles/tr...get_custo.html

I just downloaded Resco. As long as I can backup and restore. I can help test. I hope implementing WinMo 6.5 is where this pioneering work is headed.

Re: Working on Making the Saga ROM Ready for Cooking

I'll join my friends from pdaphonehome and be willing to try. Sorry we lack the skills to cook. I did a good bit of loading cooked ROMs onto my Treo 700w & 700wx, so I am not afraid. Lead on, o' great one!

Plenty of interest here also..... Mine is being delivered tomorrow afternoon afer being definitely convinced last night by three hours with Verizon tech support, and everything they can do, that my Alltel Touch Pro is not fully compatible with the Verizon network.

So I'll be hacking on the Saga in a few days......
