I don't know how to change my rom

I'm super new and have been trying to understand the other threds and figure out the lingo but I am lost. I want to get/try the 6.5 rom on my omnia but am worried I'll f it up. I guess you could say in order for me to learn I need a step by step on how to do this so I can learn for future programs. I've figured out stuff here and there. On my orginal phone I had the htc touch light saber but after my 5th phone I'm sick of the rom and want to try another before giving up on the omnia all together. please someone help the newbie learn.
