SMTP email

Today after flashing to CF03 and Blaninwolf's ROM and setting up my email again was the first I heard of the SMTP email shutdown from vzw. I guess I hadn't needed to send an email from my phone since Saturday.

Is there anyway to get Road runner outgoing mail to work now?

Problem lies with RR not VZN. You can use the default email to receive an email but not send out an email on RR from phone. RR servers require a PC connection, and or certain protocol or smtp gateway to prevent spam and hacker attack. What I did was set up a free imap acct such as gmail or yahoo to email out. VZN was using their network as a free SMTP gate for a awhile, they claim the service was dropped to free up bandwidth for faster network speeds.

Yes you can send SMTP e-mail, I did it yesterday, using Verizon's service and my Road Runner e-mail account.

I just sent an email from my Comcast account that I have set-up as SMTP on my phone.

Is this just a RR issue?

I have it figured out, you have to go into email setup and enable outgoing mail authentication. I didnt have that checked cause before you didnt need it. Thanks guys

Seriously I think there's some mis-information about this SMTP deal going around, leaving a lot of people confused.
