Re: VOIP (SIP) App to be used with Google Voice and Gizmo

Why do you think sjphone can be much better? I have an omnia i910. I tried Fring which is terrible.. call quality sucks and it crashed alot. i tried skype which you can configure with gizmo and Google Voice. the quality was pretty good! but you cant make calls out with skype.. only thru GV on a browser.. just like Fring and Nimbuzz. Thats weird that you cant get phone calls thru Nimbuzz.. I use it all the time. I just cant use its dialer to make calls.. it cancels them automatically and returns to the contacts list. Almost all apps are able to be set up with google voice because you can set up google voice with a SIP such as Gizmo.. you then put an app on your phone and put in your sip settings.. usually getting a call is successful.. but making a call from that same app isnt... Can you make and receive calls with SJPHONE and Pocket dialer? |

I gave up on trying to get this working seamlessly.

:???:Whats the point.? Wont it use your plan minutes either way? Whether you make or recieve a call with your handset, you are using your minutes..are you not? And if you used your data connection for VoIP, with a modem even slower than the OLD 56K modems, what kinda of clarity can you expect? Is all this chatter really worth it?](*,)

Re: VOIP (SIP) App to be used with Google Voice and Gizmo
The idea is to use the data plan and the call quality is just as good as if you were using your minutes as long as you are on EVDO.
Its a big $$ saver if we can get it too work seamlessly. |
Re: VOIP (SIP) App to be used with Google Voice and Gizmo
I heard WengoPhone app works but i cant seem to get it configured with Gizmo's sip correctly. theres a Domain Name box and a Proxy address box... both i put proxy01.sipphone.com but wont let me connect.
I also use Nimbuzz... which so far works with no problems except for dialing out... I just found out about PortSIP app.. installed it.. and it runs flawlessly.. allowing to dial out and get incoming calls.. but too must distortion with bad echoing. I have yet to find a crystal clear quality app. Im guessing SKYPE will probably be the app that comes out on top. |
