Sorry I am sure this is old news to most here, but I've not been able to visit the forums in awhile. Has Verizon released the official GPS unlock update yet? If so, how would I go about applying this to my Omnia? Thank you so much for your help in advance!!!

Yes they have, go to www.verizonwireless.com and go to support for the samsung omnia i910. They will direct you to a link at samsung. If you are going to use a vista x64 system to do the upgrade, PM me and i'll walk you through it using the UMDL.

There are also several custom ROMs created around the new release, called CF03.

Just keep in mind you must install the official update before flashing a custom or "cooked" ROM.
