Omnia stopped connecting through USB, WTF?

I saw the news about CF03 and went to update, then I plugged the phone into my laptop...nothing. The phone nor the laptop signaled that anything had been connected.
I then tried to do the same thing on my desktop...nothing again. ActiveSync or USB mode, neither one works. I hard reset hoping that would fix the problem...nope. Then I tried the same on both after removing the microSD card, and then after installing the Samsung USB drivers. The AC charger works perfectly. So what do you think? Bad cable? It was working a couple of days ago when I used it. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks!

Check to see if the "Allow USB connections" is checked under Connection Settings. It is turned off to do the update.

Re: Omnia stopped connecting through USB, WTF?

It doesnt sound like he got that far.

I would try to go to settings.Connections.USB connection mode and change it to Mass storage.

Then plug it in and give it a good minute or two and see if it shows up like a USB drive.

This will at least give you a start on where to begin troubleshooting.

Re: Omnia stopped connecting through USB, WTF?

USB mode doesn't work either for any amount of time, basically the phone does nothing when connected to the PC nor does the PC sound the new hardware chime (you know, the phone lights up and makes that beep sound) as if the cable is not even there. I have flashed 11 times with the laptop I'm using right now, so I don't think that's the problem. Anything else? Otherwise I guess I'm going to have to call Samsung or go to the Verizon store (which I'm not a huge fan of, though perhaps they can update my rom officially). thanks for everything so far.

Re: Omnia stopped connecting through USB, WTF?

I had the exact same problem!!! I had to switch to a different USB port and then I started having the same problem on that port too. Now I only have one USB Port that works (for anything). 2 of my ports are completely DEAD, nothing works in them, not even a mouse.

I thought that might be the case at first but then I tried all 3 ports on my laptop, no good, then 4 ports on my desktop, no good. And then i plugged in a wireless mouse receiver to the first one I tried and it worked. Grrrr! I guess it's with the cable then. It's going to be annoying if I'm going to have to get it replaced.

Re: Omnia stopped connecting through USB, WTF?

Go to Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC and uncheck the "enable advanced network functionality" box. That works forme whenever my phone and pc don't feel like connecting.
