How do you insert pauses in a dialed number with Omnia?
On my former HTC device I could insert the letter "p" then my voice mail password in a contact number (ie. 1-800-555-5555ppp4344). When dialed it would pause (2 seconds for each "p") to give the voicemail system time to ask for the password and then automatically dial it in.
On my (Telus) Omnia I get "this number cannot be completed as dialed". |
Re: How do you insert pauses in a dialed number with Omnia?
Just put a " p " in between the numbers you want paused. Like for 123 pause 456, put 123p456. I do it for my voicemail so i don't have to put the code in everytime.
EDIT: You can't dial out and use the pause, it's only for stored contacts. In phone options, by voicemail i have *86p1234. |

what dialer are you using? I have had issues with things like this in the past and changing dialers fixed it.

Excellent suggestion. I just got the phone and I'm using the default dialer which I guess is Samsung's. Any dialers to suggest?

Well, you could use the stock microsoft one, there is a reg edit for it, but you don't get the screen lock with it and you may press buttons with your face while talking.

Re: How do you insert pauses in a dialed number with Omnia?
Thanks. At least now I know it's not a dialer issue because Windows dialer does the same thing. It must have something to do with the way Telus provisioned their Omnias.

Re: How do you insert pauses in a dialed number with Omnia?
have you tried a comma in the number instead of the "P"?

yeah must be a telus thing. I just tried it on mine and it is *86p1234 in my contacts and it works fine.

Just tried it with my Telus Omnia... works with both the Samsung dialer, and the default WM6.1 dialer.
Where are you configuring the number? I did it in the Speed Dial screen - just changed the Speed Dial number for the Voicemail entry (location 1). |
Re: How do you insert pauses in a dialed number with Omnia?
In Start>Settings>Phone it will allow you to type your voicemail number. I put the "p"s in there along with my password and of course the all important # and it works fine.

Oh shoot, sorry for wasting everyone's time. I carried my contacts over from my P4000 and for some reason a few numbers had a "+" sign before the 1 and it seems that this combined with the "p" is what was causing the problem. The pauses are working in both my contacts and speed dial now!
