If the cab and other files folks have posted do not work, attached is a zip of the files to get a black cc20 (pop up) keyboard.

All I did was modify the cc20 xml files and create some additional copies of the keyboard bmps. This worked for me by installing cc20 first, and then copying the files in the attached to the Windows directory. Soft reset and you should have all black Samsung keyboards/keypads/phonepads. Keep in mind that only the keyboards have the pop up keys. That is how cc20 works as well.

Yeah, it probably does as it was only your files. I'll look at the cab Adrynalyne made and combine them in to one so it will be a one stop cab. :)

No issues at all. I just modified the files from previously in this post, so this is not newly created. I have never done anything like this, so I am not sure if I missed anything, but I have not had any issues in the last day that I have been experimenting.

All in that cab is just the black bmp(s) and 4 edited xml files for the keyboard, no registry entry, so I dont know why it screws up your phone?](*,)

The cab file for the black keyboard does work with the new CF03 and Adryn's 6.5 Rom

Can anyone make shokka's glossy black keyboard (pop-up) like the cc20 keyboards. For some reason on all the CC20 keyboards when you type a number it defaults back to letters after you hit the first number or hit enter/return. A simple num lock would be cool on the pop up keyboards. Shokka's keyboard has this behavior but of course it doesn't have the pop up keys.

I just installed your black 6.5 but preferred the samsung keyboard. searched forum and found this link. installed the cab and THEN READ the posts. it locked my phone in startup loop and then black screen. I've seen that bgill noticed this. as it is too late as I have loaded it, I need a solution to reboot and reload. Either the same rom or a different rom with samsung keyboard. Anyone with experience getting the phone to boot. and info on installing a keyboard cab that won't kill the phone. It may have been made for the old ROM.

I did load up the UMDL and reloaded the PDA ROM black 6.5 by Blazing Wolf. The phone was dead black after looping bootscreen. After Detect button in UMDL i just soft reset w/ top indent button. reflashing now. I think it will be fine. But question still. I need a working keyboard that is not a phone pad style. I like a regular large keyboard like the original Samsung.

The keyboard cab will not work on this ROM. No one really knows why. The get your phone back functioning again, do a hard reset (press the soft reset button on the top with the stylus and then immediately press and hold the call and end buttons at the same time. If that does not work, just reflash the ROM. That is what I did several times before I learned the hard reset sequence.

As for a keyboard, Blazingwolf addresses this in his ROM thread. Many keyboards are out there that work. In fact, the new Omnia Lite keyboard is currently what I am using with BW latest black ROM. It does not have the pop up keys, which I miss, but the the layout is better and it has features like getting a secondary character from a key by doing a long press.

Otherwise, your best free option is probably FingerKeyboard. You will want to make sure you find skins for the Omnia so landscape is full screen. There is also a thread with layout edits that eliminate the arrows in the middle of the keyboard. XT9 wil have to be disabled by a CAB to get word suggestion with this keyboard.

Thanks for those tips. I think I've read about every thread in the entire omina forum. however, lesson learned. When searching for a topic, don't assume the results are recent posts. Well, and to be fair to me, who would think that a keyboard cab would kill your phone???? That was totaly weird. But anyway, I had the morning free...

i just use black theme on my mobileshell and it makes all backgrounds,themes,etc. black
i use my phone in direct sunlight a lot and black with white lettering is the only thing i can see well enough to use
