So whats the poop on MSVC in ur Omnia?

Before I pull the trigger on this bad-boy, I've been readin that Voice Command will not work in various stages.

Worst- Not a all thru Bluetooth.
Pretty lousy- Won't BlueTooth initiate (you have to hit a button on teh phone to get things rollin)

It seems that some people here are using MSVC w/ complete success thru their BT headsets (press the BT button, hear the "da-doink", speak the command)
, true?
I REALLY use this a lot & don't want to have to revert to "voice tags" (trully the work of the devil) or worse...actually touching my phone

Voice command ratings anybody?

Hi,

I use Voice Command over bluetooth all the time. The problem is that voice command won't initiate if the device is locked. I've tried every registry hack I could find, but no go. The OS prevents it.

So, I removed the password from my Omnia and use S2U2 instead. I get the anti-screen touching protection from s2u2 (meaning programs aren't launching when my phone is in my pocket) AND I get voice command working over bluetooth (I can initiate from bluetooth) allowing me to initiate calls and do things like "call home" or "what are my appointments for tomorrow".

Re: So whats the poop on MSVC in ur Omnia?

Hi,

MSVC came with my Verizon Omnia I910. I didn't have to download it from anywhere. I use a BlueAnt V1 Bluetooth Headset and can easily initiate Voice Command from my headset. In settings, just be sure that VC is turned on before you use it. Works like a charm. Love it.

Re: So whats the poop on MSVC in ur Omnia?

THx folks.
rnoia, I used s2u2 & liked it; I can make that work.

justinAppi,
I thought that was the case....seen it in a few other posts that 'looked" like it was included.....
I wonder, does Adlyn (apologies for butchering his name) that made a custom rom have it included? THAT would rock. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be customizing from what I 've read about the stock setup.

Thx again.

Re: So whats the poop on MSVC in ur Omnia?

I'm using Adrynalyne's 4.2 rom at the moment and Voice Command is included (I have it set up to a button on the phone). All it takes is a trip to the settings menu and changing a button to VC. But I don't have a BT headset.

Re: So whats the poop on MSVC in ur Omnia?

I'm running Adrynalyne's WM 6.5 ROM v4.0.1-base on the Omnia SCH-i910 (or was that SGH...I can't remember)
I can probably provide a list of programs I installed if needed

MSVC works on my phone over bluetooth, although only if I perform the following steps
  • If it isn't working, soft reset the phone
  • After a soft reset, activate VC with a hardware button
  • Wait for the "ding", say "Help" to make sure it is running
    • Sometimes it takes up to 3 presses to get the "ding"
  • Enable bluetooth on the phone
  • Connect my bluetooth headset
  • Test the button on the headset
  • Working!
I hope this helps

EDIT: Oh, and my BT headset is a Jabra BT8010
