Which Car Charger are you Using

I know this has been addressed somewhat lightly from time to time in other threads, but after reading all of them I'm still going nuts trying to figure this out. Plus those threads all kinda died anyway...

I'm using an i910 Omnia. No matter what car charger I use, as soon as I turn on iGo8 turn-by-turn navigator the charger disconnects with the message "Battery Disconnected" and then the battery ceases charging. Here's a list of options I've used to try and diagnose the problem:

Tried 3rd party Rocketfish car charger from Best Buy (0.6 Amps). Result: Battery Disconnected

Tried official Samsung branded car charger from Best Buy (0.7 Amps). Result: Battery Disconnected

Tried Verizon branded car charger from Verizon store (0.7 Amps). Result: Battery Disconnected

Tried official iGo8 car charger and adapter from Radio Shack (0.75 Amps). Result: Battery Disconnected

Tried 1.3 Amp/150 Watt car outlet inverter from Radio Shack (one of these) with all of the above car chargers plugged in one at a time. Result: Battery Disconnected every time

Tried the same Radio Shack inverter mentioned above, only this time I actually plugged in my official Samsung Omnia wall charger (which still likely "underclocks" the power back down to 0.7 Amps). Result: Battery Disconnected

Tried all of the above options in 3 different cars to ensure that the car battery wasn't the problem. Result: The same failed "Battery Disconneced" mesage every time.

I even plugged the phone into the wall charger in an outlet in my own house (Charger says output is 0.7 Amps). Result: Battery Disconnected. So iGo8 even disconnects the charger when plugged into an actual wall outlet.

So what am I doing wrong here, folks? I can make calls without it disconnecting from the car charger and all other apps work fine while driving. But as soon as I launch iGo8 it disconnects the charger. I know heat isn't the problem because this even happened on a 45 degree morning while I was holding the phone up to full-blast A/C.

So my question is this: Those of you that have had success using car chargers while navigating, what car chargers are you using to get positive results? Am I missing a setting somewhere? Do I need more amperage? If so, where can I find a charger with more power? Any thoughts??

Must be a bug with iGo. I don't use iGo (Google Maps), but I use some cheap *** eBay made in Hong Kong car charger, and it works perfectly.

The one from ebay for $3.00 and free shipping! Works like a charm.

By the way.. I have Garmin Mobile on my i910... It's just like the regular garmin... well exactly like it!

I don't have a car charger, yet... but I just tried my iGo8 while my Omnia was plugged into PC and it charged for a good 10 minutes while iGo was running before I shut off iGo.

Not to confuse the issue, but I use the interchangeable tip system from iGo (no connection to the routing software) in my car and it works fine.

Same here. No issues charging while using Igo 8 on my trips.

Re: Which Car Charger are you Using

Thanks for all your responses. It appears my problem isn't normal seeing as you all seem to have no issues with charging so I must have a corrupted sys.txt file in my iGO folder or something. I'll check it out and get back to you all with what I find

Yup, a few corrupted files was my whole problem all along. After some googling, I was able to repair them and now my charger no longer disconnects when using iGO8.

You guys are awesome. Thanks so much for all your help. I couldn't have figured this out without you
