Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
Heat is a wast of elecricty Or a sign of. The new roms could also be overclocked. I wish i could find a program that could tell me excatcly what part of the phone is using what electricity. You figur that out and then you can figure out what to do from there. There is a lot of reasons for that. If the electricity was flowing smothily with no resistance there wouyld not be the heat or atliest as much. I noticed that it was not my battory getting hot but. under the battery. It gets a little warm when i use gps. But mostly for me is when i am charging it on the usb cable. I aalso noticed it getting hot but not as mutch when i charged with a normal wall charger and using wifi or bluetooth. I would be guessing that the processor is most resistance. concidering there is a fan over it on a normal computer. If someone knew how to manage the power so only a regulated amount is being used by the system I am sure that it could be done. Could be easy. Does any body know if the 1900 omnia has the same isue and if not why. Could it be that whatever was blocking gps is still a resistance using power but doing nothing. The i910 might even have a different chip altogether. But then again what did we expect expiermenting with our phones on an untested rom. Or are we testing it. This is what i am going to do till then. Every time i soft reset i do not get the heat untill i start using mor and more features. So untill ther is a fix i would suggest to soft reset after using gps or when it gets hot. My phone stayed above 90% for a long time untill I used gps yesterday> I turned off gps but it was still draining. Every time it drained it was hot so they probley are connected. Or hot from charging. So obvously it is an elictrical isue. On last thing. I am pretty sure what can actually be put in a cell phone probly equall to some laptops and beyond but the power has to come from somewhere. My bet is battory technology better power management is the crutch.

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
no no one got burned but from what i remember there was a phone (i think it was 710) that had that problem (not counting lowsuit with VZw) and there was an upgrade option given to the owners

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
Update: I tried to hard reset my memory card one more time and found that it would fail everytime. I got another memory card I remembered I had and found that the phone didn't even recognize there was a card inserted. So the HOT card problem was card related I believe, I think this other card I got is faulty too. Anyone else have these issues with garbage memory quality?

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
it seems that alot of people are having trouble with cards purchased from e-bay (no surprise) but I don't remember the details. Sandisk I believe was the brand and specifically those without the packing. They can came in a case with a SD adapter but where not sealed.

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
i wonder what you guys are doing with your phones to make them heat like that.
i bought a in-store branded micro sd card at my local microcenter, and there has been no issue with it at all. i dont charge my phone thru the usb, but if i was doing that i would use one of the ports at the back of the pc, because the ports there keep full voltage, or so said the instructions with my zune. mine will get warm if i am doing a lot of surfing, but not to the point of smelling plastic. i also flash a bunch and i have never had it get hot doing that either. |

i got my pny card from a retail store and not ebay and i do charge on a back usb 2.0 port. im not sure if its the card cause i took that out and it still gets hot. Im not sure, i think its the rom being overclocked like i seen a post on here had already said. is there a program to check out the speed of the processor? *edit* its not like i want to charge by usb but i use it to transfer files, but im just going to start transfering by BT |

my thinking was that maybe ya'll were running a bunch of programs all at once, and that was stressing the processor, and making big heat.:violent2: i did, however, read today if you want to charge your phone via usb, it should be either turned off, or set to mass storage mode under connections (like you do when you flash). dunno if it's true, but may be worth testing to see. i will check around and see if there is a program that would show processor load, like process explorer i use on my desktop. |
