Turning off auto-complete

How can I turn off auto-complete? I unchecked the boxes under the keyboard options but after installing and setting up .NET 3.5 in the registry it won't turn off. It makes typing a word impossible, like in VZApps where every letter I type inserts whatever auto-complete was working on while continuing to type a word. Typing "Facebook" is a 20 character jumble of text. I've had this less than 24 hours and like it but this, even more so than some poor battery performance, is a dealbreaker.

Re: Turning off auto-complete

Every option under XT9 is off/unchecked. Under Settings>Input>Word Completion both "Suggest words" and "Enable Auto Correct" are unchecked. I've rebooted the phone.

Re: Turning off auto-complete

You would have to switch keyboards or disable Xt9 in the registry to completely shut it off.

Is that what you want? I find the Samsung keyboards are buggy with the non xt9 driver.

Re: Turning off auto-complete

How do I disable XT9 in the registry? I like the keyboard fine, I just hate typing "fa" and seeing "fa fr fc foo" and having it enter those words without my asking. or typing www.google and it goes "wwe.google". More annoying than this in Opera is in some programs they're unusable because it inserts the word choices before you even finish the word.

Edit: I'm just an idiot. I didn't even notice an abc/xt9 toggle on the keyboard and at some point I hit it by accident. It's completely seperate from the Options settings.
