Thanks! What is included in the update? I'm a little apprehensive to run a .cab without any prior feedback. The Geeks would love to know...

Re: New update for VZappzone and Omnia

I am sorry if I miss directed anyone with the title of the post I was still downloading, installing and testing the update... Yes it looks like it is just a wireless sync update and loads a today screen toolbar for wireless sync also... I tried to load google maps and check for satellite to test the gps ut it didn't find anything set to windows managed and there are still no settings for gps in settings so I don't think this is a GPS unlock at all but I had to check...

No worries. Mentioning "update" on this board, especially for Verizon customers, is like throwing chum in the water. I am really annoyed that there has not been an update yet for this phone. I called in about another Omnia issue yesterday. the Tech said that they "heard" an update was to be out in two weeks. I told her a Samsung rep said that same thing to me the first week of February. Who know....

Re: New update for VZappzone and Omnia

I have a relative on my plan. She needed me to be on the phone for access reasons - again. Just for fun, at the conclusion of my relatives problem, I asked the tech person had he heard any news on the Omnia update. He said that she had not heard of ANY problems with the phone AND no update had been discussed that he knew of.....

Not that Verizon cares but if there is no update, this will be my last phone with them. At that point, I know they blocked updates for no other reason than to stop people from making their own custom roms.

Their desire to keep control of the software on phones is ridiculous.

You and me both. I only came to this network for this phone. If they are DELIBERATELY suppressing updates - when every other version has one - then I am done. Probably sooner than my 2-year obligation ends too.

Re: New update for VZappzone and Omnia

Considering what I pay to them, the ETF is less than my monthly bill.
