help my touch function on i760 wont work

help my samsung i760 touch function on the screen has quit working... i was using the phone to text last night and it worked fine... then i plugged it in to charge for the night and the touch ability on the screen wont work today.. the screen works in the sense you can read and see it but no touch... does anyone have a suggestion for a fix? is there a way to lock the screen?
