Why can't Verizon reps actually be informed? Big Bad Ugly Corporate Greed - I think that sums it up.

please tell me you guys finally figured out the difference between the 30 and 45.

To sum it up in a nutshell to shut up these "I hate vzw" enthusists, the 30 is to get throuh low priority, low security firewalls such as yahoo.com or gmail.com where the mail is prodominentlly publicied. The 45 if for highlevel secured email servers such as a BES serverfor the president or a wells fargo conssession line. FOr god sakes...wireless sync can be used now IF the email account is not corporate configvured and if it does. the server isn't secure enough to require the 45 data plan. Also. Wireless sync is only available oncedrtain phones for the 30 plan...capish?

Then explain why I cannot use it.

Not really digging the vibe I am getting here.

Re: Data Plan

I have the $30.00 data plan. I was told by VZW tech support (here we go again) that I can tether if I want but if I download too much I would be restricted.

I believe the Wireless Sync (costs more) is also for storing a backup of contacts etc. Not sure why we need this as we have two copies already, one on our phone and one on our PC.

They also have a separate data plan for 49.99 and they have explained that it would be for corporate users using servers.

Not sure if this helps but hope so.

Rick

Clear as mud, and another different answer from VZW ;)

I got the 29.99 plan, and they sent me the VZaccess disk with my phone....I wonder if that means I can connect my comp to the net w/my phone, or do they send that regardless?

You are so wrong. :angry7:

From the Verizon Wireless site, when you sign up to the 30 dollar plan:

Can't tether to use these features (Blackberry, wireless sync, wireless enterprise, modbile messaging). No problem there, I wont use tethering for those features. And syncing of data is technically what tethering does, so I'm good there too. So from how I read it, I can tether just fine on the $30 plan. :)

Re: Data Plan

No, you are misinterpreting it.

Tethering and syncing are not the same. Can you tether physically? Yes. Going by their TOS? No.

As long as Verizon doesn't catch you...

If they do, expect hell to pay.

Re: Data Plan

I was being sarcastic. Everyone knows, or should know pretty clearly, that tethering isn't allowed for the $30 plan. I was playing with their 'lawyeristic' TOS. :)
