Re: Data Plan

Phoenx06 - to answer your question. There is nothing you can do on your phone that what cause Verizon to change your data plan from $29.99 to $45.00. You have to sign up through their website or call them to activate BlackBerry Enterprise Server or Wireless Sync for non blackberry users. Hope that helps -Happy surfing and downloading (UNLIMITED small print 5gb/month)!

You just told me the same thing ;)

Thats ok, they just told me the difference was that the 45 dollar plan has tethering.

Re: Data Plan

FWIW, I tried to use Wsync and authentication fails every time I try to log in, despite changing the password numerous times. This is the same issue others have reported across the net when downgrading to the 29.99 plan from the 44.99.

Maybe there is something screwy with your account, ebross67. Just don't ever tell them :D

Re: Data Plan

Which is funny, because you can use the tethering hack in this forum to do the same thing for $29.99? Verizon are a bunch of silly little monkeys. Maybe if you were using a lot more than 5 GB a month they would charge you $45.00 thinking you were tethering. Wireless Sync - it's a rip off. Save the $15.00 bucks and setup your business email exchange or POP and forward all your personal emails to one account. You still have to check 2 different account on your phone, but two is better than 10 (I think they give you a maximum of 10 - I could be wrong). I don't use Wireless Sync. I've never had the $45.00 plan, because Verizon told me it was for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Maybe that is why it doesn't work for you Adrynalyne, because you don't own a blackberry. Have you used Wireless Sync before or BES? BES was designed because BlackBerrys can't use Microsoft Exchange on their platform. There has to be an intermediate program that will push your Exchange account on the PC to your phone - voila, BES was invented.

Re: Data Plan

Nope. Ive never used eitgher. Check out the Hofo thread. Good info--your account must be provisioned for it, and until then, you cannot log in. That and Verizon isn't supposed to do so, unless you have a 44.99 plan.

So unless I find a clueless idiot to do it, it isn't happening for me.

Re: Data Plan

I'll do a test tonight and tether my phone to my laptop and download a 7 GB file and see if they charge me 45.00 on my next bill. My prediction - they will cut me off at 5 GB or they will do nothing and my bill will still be 29.99. I checked out your link. It sounds like they are just as confused as everybody else. Why can't Verizon reps actually be informed? Big Bad Ugly Corporate Greed - I think that sums it up.

Re: Data Plan

Interesting test. Not something I would do, because after 5gb, they charge you a per kb fee.

Re: Data Plan

Maybe I'll do a 5 gb and 1 meg test turn off the data with NODAT, thanks again Adrynalyne, and see what they do. How do you know they charge after 5 GB? This question goes out to anybody. Has anybody been charged on the unlimited plan after the 5GB have been used?

Just a thread I ran across. Some guy ended up with 300 in charges. That was with an air card, though. I can't imagine it being different though.
