Re: Reg Editor

1. Open CERegEditor.
2. Connect your phone. Go to Connection menu on CE, and go to Connect.
3. YOu will see three main trees on the left. These expand out. So when someone says go to HKLM\System\GWE, it woul;d look like the screenshot.

Re: Reg Editor

Now, to backup a key before modifying, which you should ALWAYS do, you highlight the "folder" in question on the left, go to edit, export...and save it somewhere safe. Choose the default options when saving it. It should be noted I get these stup[id little exception errors every now and then in CERegEditor, but they don't see to hurt anything. Could be a problem, on my end, but an FYI.

Now to edit something, right click the value on the right and choose edit.

Normally it will just be the Value Data to be modified.

Click ok, close the Editor, wait 20 seconds, and soft reset phone for changes to take effect. Note, before you can edit the registry, you must unlock it in CE.

Go to Tools, Unlock Registry and follow instructions on phone. IT will need to run a app. Just say yes.

To import a file, go to Edit>Import. Browse to the file in question and go from there.

To create a value or key, navigate where you need to be, go to Edit> New and choose what you need and follow instructions given to you via the tweak info.

That should get you started. Might want to back all data up though, not just the registry.

While on the topic of CERegEditor, anyone wanna be a Guinea Pig and try my cab file to enable Low battery Warning notification?

After installing, it enables Low Battery Warning under Sounds and Notifications in the WInMo settings.

Edit: Cab removed due to problems I found it caused.

I figured out the unlock thing on my own last night. I was sitting there saying to myself "there's nothing to edit", then "duh" there sits the unlock button. Thanks for all the help. I'm going to play around with this tonight and hopefully I don't get myself in too much trouble. I'm sure I will be asking for some more help in the near future.

There were so many things I didn't like on my XV6900 that I already like just in the hardware of the Omnia. I'm sure once I get everything else tweaked, I'll be more than happy with the device.

I am planning on running some sort of theme besides the ones that are currently on the phone (Samsung today is OK and I can not stand the Widgets). I was thinking of trying out Today 2 first and then if I don't like that try out HTC Home (I liked it a lot on the XV6900) and SPB Mobile Shell. Does it make a difference if I do the reg edits before or after installing new programs like the ones mentioned above?

Re: Reg Editor

Well, Samsung Today 2 only requires a regedit, not an install. So don't do both, as you will burn precious Main memory.

If you want the black or silver themes, do go ahead and install those cabs, as its easier than modifying the files yourself, and will take up the same amount of space, either way.

I figured I would do the reg edit first and see if I like the feel of Today 2 first. If I like it and just want to change to the black or silver, then I'll download the actual file for Today 2. Thanks.

Just curious what everyone is using for a reg editor? I know there are at least a half a dozen out there and was wondering what advantages one might have over the other.

I use Resco.

Guys

I can't use my laptop I put Linux (Ubunto) on it. Until I go home middle of this month (currently deployed) I can't use the registry editor with my PC.

Can someone provide me a link to a good (free) registry editory that I can use on my Omnia? I need to unlock Today 2.

Thanks

If you just need it for that, I can create a cab file for you. Otherwise, PHM is decent.
