Did you try post 8. As stated this works for some.
The 20 to 30 bucks for WifiRouter or PDAnet is worth it for a stable connection that works.

\\:D/I just want to thank all those that took the time to post and give us a solution. It took me a bit of head scratching and a few concerned raised eyebrows, but I did eventually get both the WiFi router ability and direct USB connection to work on my Omnia SCH-i920. I am posting this via tethering. Thanks again.

Here's another method to tether using the USB cable:

Use Data Connection from your phone to tether:
1) Put the USB Connection in Activesyn mode; tick the Enable Advance Network Functionality.
a-1) Set USB connection to activesyn with advance network enabled
a-2) Disable your auto disconnection in your data connection setting.
a) Connect the device to the PC using the USB cable.
b) Connect first to the activesyn/Windows Mobile Device Center (automatic)
c) Start ICS on the phone
d) Press connect
2) You might gett disconnected intermittenly from ICS due to the Data Connection settings. If you've set that the data connection will be automatically disconnected after X mins, basically, as long as there are no packets, it will be disconnected.
3) If you are connected via GPRS any call/sms/mms coming in will disconnect the connection
Use 3G connection and it will stay connected.

Is this way free?

sorry to be a thread necro...but I got WMwifirouter 2.0 and it installs and connects and says there is a network (WMWifirouter_2766) but my nook doesn't see it...what am I missing, am I supposed to be connected to my computer? My internet sharing works fine when tethered USB. But I want my phone to work as a hotspot without a computer so my nook can get internet through it...

I released a ROM that utilizes a new Samsung Application called MobileAP, its WIFI Routing but it is Samsung Style. Check it out.
