**NEWB ALERT***

I installed Slingplayer, but now I can't find it. It's not on any of my five "Main Menu" screens. Where can I find it ???

Not sure anymore, as I use SPB Mobile shell, but getting to the start menu should get you to all of the program apps. On my screen I just hit the windows start at the top the bring me into the windows programs. It should be there.

Re: Samsung Omnia II SCH-i920 Review

Thanks again Gee. I just figured it out.

The 5 main menu screens each have space for 15 icons. If you hit "edit" on the bottom right, there will be a "-" sign above each existing icon. Hit that to delete an icon you have no use for. Then the new "blank space" will have a "+" sign- hit that and it will present you with a list of unused icons you can add to that space. Slingplayer and Google maps were both in that list, so now they have homes....but I guess I really should look into SPB anyway.....

Re: Samsung Omnia II SCH-i920 Review

The Omnia 2 rocks with SPB Mobile Shell. . . . . a friend of mine who just picked up his Omnia 2 last week was so totally frustrated, he called me before he was going to go back to Verizon to return the phone. He came over and I installed the trial SPB Mobile Shell on his phone. I set it up for him, as well as shutting off the TouchWiz and he is amazed at how simple and easy and convenient the phone is now. He's really excited. He ordered SPB Mobile Shell at the 50% discount which goes away today. I'm not an SPB salesrep, just an ordinary Omnia 2 user. Most of the complaints about this phone are cured with Mobile Shell.

I am a transfer from HTC w/rebuilt Rom.... I am frustrated by all the annoying branded programs that I don't want and can't figure out how to get rid of them.

If you mean the preinstalled programs that came with the phone, then you can not remove them without installing a lite (stripped Rom) There are several here and at Modaco that work great.

I was able to remove mine by putting the phone in mass storage mode then linking to the computer and removing through explorer.

What did you remove exactly? You can remove some of the carrier bloat, but you cannot remove the built-in Samsung stuff...it's in the ROM. You'll be able to remove start menu icons, but you're not getting rid of all that Samsng bloat without flashing a custom "lite" ROM.

Re: Samsung Omnia II SCH-i920 Review

So, uh... how is this as a phone? Radical question, I know ;-}

Things such as:
  • Clarity of earphone sound
  • How it sounds to those you talk to
  • Bluetooth headset pairing (in particular, I am deaf in one ear, so I cannot use any setup that requires a stereo headset, and would like both phone use and music listening to work on a mono headset)
  • How visible is the phone screen in sunlight - is AMOLED good for that?
  • Can it be set to only vibrate for calls/messages in "meeting mode"?
  • Speed dial setup from contacts ?
Also, can ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), and or wModem be used on it, preferably with a USB for charging/security/simplicity, but BT is ok, also. My aging XV6800 does those quite well, and that is about my deal-breaker (which is what happened with couple Androids I tried - not even PDAnet for Android would work with my work notebook running WinXP, but ICS "just works").

Has anyone tried this with a Celio Redfly? Their compatibility list has the Omnia I (or at least no number after the name), but not the II.

TIA
