Shortcut key combination to hard reset Samsung Moment

(if the device is locked due to too many password attempts and you dont know your gmail password lose everything but can use your phone again)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Power down phone & remove battery
2) Insert battery w/o powering phone back on
3) Simultaniously press the volume down button, green call button & red end button - hold all 3 down until SAMSUNG appears on screen and appears to be turning on
4) A menu w/ options will appear, choose the bottom option (master reset device) - phone will erase all codes and programming (could take a minute, will show codes on screen being erased in yellow)
5) When all is reset, will return to previous menu - choose 1st option to reboot the device
6) Phone will reboot and power on

Good info, I like to tell users, especially the ones that are unable to press all three simultaneously to press and hold VOLUME DOWN, CALL and then END, always leaving END for last...

If they accidentally press END before the other two, they might get unwanted results... namely their phone booting

thanks...i thought it would be helpful...cant tell you how many i have had to fix. i always tell them first and foremost set up google acct write down name and password and put it in a safe place...wallet, jewelry box, file cabinet etc. i even provide the pen and paper lol

If you have an android "anti-theft" app(s) and your phone is stolen (and was locked). Could someone use that "shortcut key combination" and use the phone for whatever?

Well if your phone gets stolen I hope you report it stolen so they can't use it for much of anything lol.

I would but if someone takes it to me that implies they know how to hard reset the phone. Also all the "Anti Theft" apps would be a waste of money and space (memory on card/phone). and shouldn't be available because it's a false sense of security.

*slaps head" DOH! now that I think about it. I'm sure the anti theft apps have some kind of code to disable that function. With that in mind that would (in layman's terms) brick the phone.

Lol now my head is spinning thinking about all the possibilities.

I know most of the good PC/Mac apps that let you track your laptops if they are stolen will still be there even after a wipe and re-install, because they install themselves on hidden partitions of the hard drive. It would be cool if they could do the same for cell phones (maybe they do, I didn't check).

That's what I was thinking. I'm sure they have a Mac address. The PSP has a Mac address. Like you said there has to be some kind of program or code that cannot be reset or disabled. I remember in school when the teachers let us use laptops. They would say something like; "If you try to take this laptop out of class or school without permission go ahead. Just don't be surprised when the cops show up at your house."

yes they can just reset your phone, however if you call it in the phone company will enable a code blocking the esn from future use. also if they wipe it they cannot get any of your info or aps so it is just a mp3 player at best if they have an sd card with songs on it.
