Need two files.
Android 2.1 DD10 System Update .tar
Android DD10 SDX Update Script

Download both of these and put them into /sdcard

Boot into custom joeykrim SDX recovery and do apply zip and choose Android2.1-DD10-SDX-update.zip.

It will take longer to boot the first time because dalvik-cache gets wiped and needs to reload.

To verify it worked, Baseband version still reads DD03. Build number ECLAIR.DD10

Hey rizz thanks for the links. My question is after I. Download them to my sd card am I only applying the tar with the recovery console? And why download both if I am. Prob a noob question I know. Thanks in advance.

thanks to rizz and caulkin. i installed as you said and the build number now reads eclair. how do i get the live wallpaper to work? i touch on the screen and it only brings up 2 options regular wall paper and pictures. do i need to apply the live wallpaper zip from the other thread?

you can just do a search for live wallpapers in the market.jst dl and let them install then go to settings-live wallpapers and voila!here is the link for live wallpapers just plug ur phone via usb then copy to the root(not in any folders) of ur storage card.i assume u have joeys recovery tar so turn ur phone off then put in boot mode by holding vol down plus send and end key at the same time then choose apply from zip then reboot.all the credit goes to the people over at sdx.http://www.sdx-developers.com/androi...some-issues-)/

thanks all. i had to run an update zip from the recovery panel before i even got the live wallpaper option. after i ran the update zip and rebooted my device, it worked like a charm. i was under the impression once i flashed to mr. caulkins new rom i would automatically get the live wallpaper option. i dont know if anyone else did but i didnt. like i said though after the recovery option zip update all worked well. thanks to Mr. caulkin and all the rest for the help!

Grass Wallpaper
 

I changed the wallpaper but like the default grass wallpaper better but I can't find it to change it back - There's only the leopard - or cheetah - or whatever it is, and the live wallpapers, and the pictures taken with the camera.

How do I get the grass wallpaper back? Where is it?

If this isn't worth answering just ignore me - I don't really have this phone in my possession or I'd figure it out myself (mine is a Touch Pro2). I flashed this for a friend on her phone and she wants the grass wallpaper back without flashing again and I know very little about Android. I'm thinking she could find a good wallpaper selection in the Android market but don't really know.

I flashed the rom and the recovery from the first post and had live wallpaper out of the box.

Very strange that others had different results.

ok, trying to run Barnacle wifi tethering:

the error i get says I don't have permission.

I went to the trouble shooting section of the web site and it says to check and see if my su has root permission.

i followed the steps and NO the su does not have root....

everyone says this wifi program is great. speeds are good and battery life is good...

i thought i had read that this rom grants root access and programs like Reboot that need root are working for me.

so... How do I get the su to have root access?

I also do not have root any longer. But i realized that i lose root after i go to the recovery console and use and update zip. i had root after flashing but when i used the sprint update.zip or when i used the live wallpaper zip it removes my root access. i could be wrong but i had root before i applied both those zips and after i did not have root. i did it twice to make sure.

I loved your roms on WM.
I installed the ROM, and restored using your backup.tar file. I like the way you have everything setup.

My only question is: Is there a way to restore my stuff from my backup without it making everything go back to the way I had it on the previous ROM? Maybe a program that only backs up call log, sms, txt, and such?

edit: nevermind I found Mybackup Pro and Sprite backup.
I ran my backup.tar, then made a backup file with mybackup then ran calk's backup.tar, then restored mybackup file.
That probably makes sense only to me.

I love the Rom and for the most part everything works fine. It seems that I have a issue with the batt. not lasting as long as it did with the other Rom or is it just my phone because my batt last all day as before. Thank you in advance.

My battery life has been crap to the point I went through a duracell charger and the battery in about 6hrs. I'm constantly charging it. The rabbit ROM seemed to do wonders compared to this.

+1 on battery life

"My" moment used to last all day without needing a charge. After flashing this rom "I" had to charge it twice a day. Charged overnight, and then once in the middle of the day.

Switched back to the stock sprint rom in the first post and staying with that for now until this is "fixed"

I wonder if there are features enabled by default in this rom that consequently drain the battery faster, that we could disable or change. Like bluetooth, push email, display brightness, something that checks for something at set intervals in which we could lessen the frequency..., etc.

Me as well, I flashed a few days ago, I'm not sure if its as bad as you guys. But it is quite noticeable.
To improve battery live i:
*Turn of EVDO when i don't need, or don't have a good signal.
*Turn off Auto-sync, and background data when not needing it.
*Tun GPS off.
*Use SetCPU to lower power, Especially in sleep, unless you listen to music with the screen off because it makes it nearly impossible to get your phone out of sleep, and at a certain battery percentage( i use 60% and go down to a max of 400Mhz).
*With ATK it comes with a widget that you can push to kill all the running, non ignored apps. I think it may save more battery than keeping the ATK program running all the time in the title bar.

Thats all i have off the top of my head, but hopefully it'll help someone a little bit, until Calkulin can figure out if theres something he can do?

Also, on a side note Thanks for building this up, other than the battery issue everything seems to be working very nicely. A few freezes with multitasking with music, and random crashes, but its still an overall improvement

Yeah.. I get to experience Calk withdrawal and come here now lol

But +1 with the battery issue, went from 60->40 just by turning on google maps and checking traffic for 2 mins lol, at least the battery is MUCH better than stock.. Would die for me in hours lol

Anyone having problems playing video on this Version? I can't seem to play anything. Even if I open up Youtube program I get the same error as most other video "Cannot play video" "sorry, this video cannot be played." What am I doing wrong here? I can't seem to get connected to my computer with logmein.com either.

I love this phone, but I'm really struggling as I've been using wm for the last 10 yrs.

There are kitchens available for the Hero, like this one. Flipz' kitchen will allow you to add in APK and ODEX files as well as permanently root the device.

Hopefully Calk will share his kitchen as he has done in the past with his WinMo work. I know I have a flash problem and being able to cook up my own ROM, with the help of chefs like Calk and Flipz, just let's me take my addiction to another level :)

I'm having the same problem on 2 phones. Youtube and Sprint TV after the upgrade to 1.3a... Anyone else? May go back to Caulk DD03 instead of DD10. I have the system back up... Thanks Calk, JoeyKrimm, SDX... and everyone else that's participating. You guys ROCK!

Just figured it out. I read this before I ever upgraded to 2.1, and forgot all about it. You have to do ##3282# enter your MSL and choose "Multimedia" and change the boxes with an address to "0.0.0.0" and the boxes with ports to "0" (of course without the "") then streaming video works.

Oh how I wanted to stay with this rom because loved it but I had to go back to 1.5 due to the batt. Prob. My phone would die in a few hours. But now it lasts all day THANK YOU.

Just to elaborate on this, when looking for your MSL it's suggested to use ConnectBot to get the information using the getprop command... Although I think you can use any terminal to get this information
Something that will help people looking for their MSL and not have to scroll through information, you can use this command
this will generate just your MSL, remember this is *nix based so capitalization is very important...

I tried the getprop command with connectbot many times, and could never find the ril.MSL anywhere on the screen, and when I tried to navigate up or down on the screen to see if it was off screen, it would just throw more characters on the screen. $ getprop ril.MSL worked perfectly. In connectbot, is there a way to scroll up or down the screen?

Luckily my local Sprint guys had no problem sharing my MSL with me.
