SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

This prog really makes the intrepid a usable phone..no more lame windows "today" screen that you can't customize and add new shortcuts etc.. It becomes your default screen...you can still access the windows today screen if you want some stress.

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/uplo...ts/3.5/100.png

It has a great scrolling main page that's quick and easy to tweak.. I was able to squeeze all the stuff I use frequently onto the first page.

The call log is 10 times better than the windows standard also.

Download the trial here:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pock.../download.html

if you like it..pm if u want details on the no cost option

A long day of work and a bunch of wine in me = here's a blurry dark bad video example:

Might be better to show a screenshot on the actual Intrepid QVGA display.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

I would but I have no idea how to do a screen shot..plus a screen shot doesn't do justice to how cool all the scrolling is

Does the trial expire? I downloaded/installed and I LOVE it. I am interested in the expiration and the website doesn't say.

yes the trial will expire, it's worth fooling with while it's free to help make a decision.

personally like it very much and purchased it for my Treo Pro. The usage is almost as dramatic as going from DOS to Windows or OS/2... it's a gui and not a text menu anymore, as anyone that has tried it knows.

Yep..loving it! What a difference.
3d messaging slows things down..but just keep that off and everything else runs fine
love getting photos directly from Facebook, the weather, widgets

great replacement for the winmo6.5 defaults

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

Ya I got it and LOVE it! I use that in combination with S2U2 and the phone is finally quite usable. For some reason it makes the touchscreen more responsive too. Now if I could only modernize the sms a (don't like the one that comes with SPB), and find out why sometimes I can't hang up a call without a soft reset (hoping it's a bug that Samsung'll fix in the next update).

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

I got it very soon after I got my Intrepid and I love it as well and I agree that the touchscreen seems more responsive. I took some pics of screen shots but the upload requirements here are max 19.5 KB for jpegs and resizing them doesn't seem to do the trick of lowering that. Any suggestions so that I can put them here?

1sae 11-13-2009 03:48 PM

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

jillbiz, you have photoshop or some kind of editing software? Very easy to reduce the file size. First make the image dimensions what you want (320x240), then save as a JPG and compress the image to 19 kb. Might not be pretty but it'll give an idea of the layout.

so S2U2 is an important addition? didn't want to try it unless i hear it's workign well on an intrepid
any settings you needed to adjust?

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

For me the S2U2 was important cause it moves the lock to the bottom (easier to unlock with one hand) of the screen and you can customize it. Not to mention that I feel like it's more responsive than the standard lock which I felt had a delay. I saw that haus moved the standard lock down to the bottom of the screen recently but haven't used it to see if that made it more responsive.

S2U2 didn't need any custom settings specific to the intrepid, just configure it to the way you want it to work. Looks a lot the the iphone.

Note that *.jpg files (JPEG with that particular extension) can be 975KB or so. I'm not sure why the other extensions have to be so much smaller. The image I posted in the Intrepid Camera thread is something like 800KB. Unless it limits file sizes by # of posts, ?

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

Thing I hate most on the Intrepid is the radio gets turned off too easily. When I hang up from a call, if I press the "end" button a little too long, the phone turns off its radio without me knowing it.

Does installing SPB mobile shell help with this issue?

Or if anyone knows of a reg hack or .cab file to fix the radio turning off problem, please let me know.

Thanks!

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

It's not a problem, it's by design; most WM phones do this. You should not need to press and hold the end key to end a call. One quick press will do. The key is to give the phone time to hang up. Typically there is a delay of 5 seconds (seems like an eternity) between when I tap the red end key and the call actually disconnects. Just be patient.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

well i have used windows mobile for about 7 years. i never really felt any of the replacement shells offered enough to make it worth the cost. that all changed with this phone and more importantly 6.5. i do like 6.5 i think it was a big improvement but as most have stated here they didn't go far enough and the home screen is just a tease of what it could be in my opinion. Given that and given the end of year discounts i decided to splurge and get it. I love it. It really does make the phone more usable and even more fun.

Agreed. $30 was too steep IMO. Titanium isn't great, but it's usable. The 50% discount was far too good a deal to pass up.

Any idea if this will go on sale again?

I downloaded/installed it yesterday and it's great... but not for $30.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

i contacted them directly and i think they might hook me up for 50% off. I told them I was impressed but didnt want to spend $30 I said I could justify spending $15 they LOL'ed and said they would get back to me. I really want it but dont want to spend 30 to get it. Im cheap what can I say.

firstafro 01-05-2010 05:47 PM

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

Well I'd say a bunch of people buying it for $15 is better then those people not buying it. Money is money. Then again, it's not my products, and what do I know.

splautz 01-08-2010 06:52 PM

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

So did they hook you up with the $15? Anyone know if any of the hacks work for it?

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

Do alittle search on google and you'll find'em. Work like a charm. BTW, I would rather have the wm 6.5 screen compared to spb mobile shell.

still waiting to hear back from them. If they approve it I might be able to get a group buy I told them if they can sell for 15 I might have a group of people interested so I am awaiting to hear back from them.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

OK I have SPB Mobile Shell installed. Is there any way of changing the windows button to launch one of the SPB panels instead of the classic winmo6.5 programs panel? The buttons setting only allows a few settings to be changed, e.g. it allowed me to change the classic task manager to the SPB task manager perfectly. But how do I fix everything else? The wireless manager is another I'd like to switch but don't know how to do it.

the 6.5 screen is so boring it makes me want to die.

Re: SPB Mobile Shell = Heaven on the Intrepid

I've just recently installed SPB on my Intrepid, and so far I'm loving it except for one small problem...I can't seem to access the entire settings menu. I only get the settings for the Home Screen, I can't access System settings or any of the others. Is there something I'm missing or do I have a bug? I'm running 3.5.3. I would love any help anyone can give.

Thanks!
