Samsung Intercept question

I have a new Intercept. When I enter dates (birthdays and anniversaries) in my contact list, some of the entries are posted as a reminder on the appropriate calendar day and some are not. What am I doing different? I wish for all of my entered dates in the contact list to be posted on the appropriate calendar day. How can I ensure this happens?
