np..and yeah M$ kinda went the iphone route :/..aka walled garden..no customization..


Also so you know, Android is open source..if you really wanted to..you can take Google completely out of Android...

Android is free so it can be ported, wp7 is not free so porting is gonna get you sued...

I knew someone was gonna say that >.>..but no..see when you buy an HD2 you still paid for a windows phone license..see M$ does not care if you buy winmo or wp7 as they get same amount of money from both..since HD2 runs winmo..M$ "tolerates' the porting of wp7..if an Android device received a port..that means M$ made 0$..and that helps competitors..and that is when M$ unleashes their lawyers on you...

So licensing works differently in mobile phones than it does for pc's?

its complicated..see you can't just go out and "buy" wp7 license yourself..its only available to oems...

Now I am not saying porting WP7 to HD2 is ok..M$ just "tolerates it"..simple because they get money either way...if anything I think winmo licences are more expensive then wp7 ones...it kinda falls in a "gray area"..

unfortunately loading up their OS for free on a competitors phone when M$ does not make a penny is a different story..you aren't their customer..they have no reason to hold back their hounds lawyers...


To give an example...imagine you have 25$ enterprise license, and $15 pro license...someone buys your 25$ license and uses your $15 pro software.. would you care? not too much to go out of your way...

now if i pirate your software for free with 0 licenses..I think you'd care...

as for the backups this is possible in wp7 via a 3rd party solution which will allow the backups to be made through Zune and restored through Zune.

You can get a windows 7 launcher from the market that is very similar to Windows 7 on your android device.

I just can't give up the customization of android to use the windows interface or any other for that matter.
