Re: Android 2.3.6 update

Can't wait to try some roms based off the new update. Had an Evo 4G,but recently upgraded to the Epic 4G Touch/Galaxy S II. So far I do miss HTC Sense, but with the addition of a few Sense look-alike widgets & after a few rom lashes I've found my happy medium & I love the SGSII performance. The screen is amazing. It looks much better than even the higher resolution screens alot of the newer devices come equipped with. I even like it as much, or better, than the HTC Rezound's 720 hd screen/display. The Epic 4G Touch/SGSII also comes equipped with a great processor that is an incredible performer, but also has good battery life compared to other competing devices. All in all, the Epic 4G Touch is by far the best performing device, at least on Sprints network,& is a great device on any network. Not to mention very fast 3G/4G/wifi speeds. Time will tell what's in store for the Epic 4G Touch,or Galaxy S II.

Yeah, no update here...my Phone still shows 2.3.4 and checked for firmware updates. Is this a non official update?

Oh nm, just skimmed the website...guess it's a waiting game till Sprint and Samsung do the green light on releasing it.

Just received a notification that a system update is available to download. Curently on EG31 modem. Will that make any difference?

EDIT: Found the flashable EG 30 modem and installing that now, then will do the OTA and auto root.

I still haven't got it. Twice now though, I have turned on my phone only to find a message saying "the firmware upgrade was unable to download. Reason: No Service CodeXXXXX. Please try again later."

I'm stock and live 3 blocks from a sprint tower. This is BS.

That is odd. Sounds like it tried to download without getting your approval first.

I'm affraid now since this has happened twice, It won't try to resend it. I did however DL'd the EG30 to EK02 from XDA as a just in case method.

I know I can put it on my SD card and install it from there but not quite sure how yet. I might have to read up some more so I don't bork nuttin'. lol

Re: Android 2.3.6 update

Ok, I read, bled, and gave myself calluses but I got the update installed. In the video on youtube, he said to put it on the SD card because he wasn't sure if it would work on the external SD card cause it wasn't tested. But on my E4GT, it wouldn't update at all putting it on the SD card. I had to put it on the external SD card for it to read it. Weird.

Oh well, I got it now and I sure hope my batt life is as good or better then what it was cause I was getting, in my case, stellar batt life. Thanks for the help!
