need help puttin skins on mogul

i a little new to this skin thing and i cant put the skin up....wen i put the skin in the phone it is in .xml format.....wen i click on it it just opens up the internet wit a bunch of codes and wen i go to the today screen the skin isnt there....can someone show me the process cause im tired of this lame skin
