Can't help you there, must be something with your system. Try un-installing and re-installing again. If that doesn't help, then your kinda out of luck unless you can test it on another XP.

Re: (V)eGa's - How to create a basic theme - TUTORIAL

I've downloaded and used ThemeGenCE 2.5 for the first time yesterday. I'm having one problem so far. When I change the Start Menu Text color(from white to black) it seems to work and show up correctly in the preview. But, when I create the theme and put it on my phone, the Start Menu text color is back to the default color, white. At the same time I've changed the Today text color to black and that appears correctly on my phone. How do I get the Start Menu text color change to appear on my phone?

Also, what should the dimensions for the Themes be? I'm picking the Theme format QVGA(P+L) with the dimensions of 240 X 290, 290 X 240.

Phone: Sprint Touch
OS: WM 6.1 (stock)

I suggest deleting your folder with TGenCE in it and re-installing it again to make sure you have all the settings at default. Also, QVGA is the way to go but you must save 4 images instead of 2. Another thing, Make sure there is a check mark next to the start menu text color. If not, it will not put that info in the theme.

You rock (V)ega. I created a nice Angels baseball theme using a downloaded logo. Works great!

I have an XV 6800. You get the tiling, by the way, when you choose too small an image...at least that's what I have seen.

I simply recommend you use a large image and you choose option 5 (QVGA P+L), After all, you are going to want a portrait and landscape view aren't you?

You really will need photoshop or some other editor to tweak the canvas size. That is the key to really getting a good theme. I had to tweak the canvas size bigger in various dimensions each for the portrait and landscape versions because what the program does is automatically resize the image. If you have a picture within your image (like a logo), then to properly position that image you will need to tweak the canvas size and then copy and paste your colour onto the expanded canvas size.

Here is the theme I created:

Thanks again for showing me that theme creator and giving your tutorial.

Devin

You haven't saved all the required pictures to create the theme. Keep re-tracing your steps.
