Today backgrounds look like poo

I've made myself a collection of 320x320 wallpapers for my Mogul and can't help but notice they all look a bit down in quality when I use them. I just set them as the BG from viewing the picture, drag the selection to what I want and set it.

I am saving them as high quality JPG files, what am I doing wrong? I've noticed images used in today themes look much sharper and not compressed.

I am having the same problem. I've tried several different programs to create the jpg and I always get the same result. The look great on the computer screen and very pixelated on the phone. Any suggestions for color mode or resolution that work well?

Try 240 x 320. That should do it.

I am using 240x320 and it just doesn't work. Yours worked perfectly but I can't create anything that works. Here is what I am trying to use.

240x320 96dpi RGB-24bit color.

are you using a theme generator? if not, try it. i use themegence. just build your theme on the pc, make a tsk file out of it, and move it over. i haven't ever had much luck with using image on the phone as wallpaper, as they do tend to turn out looking like poo.

That was an image that i converted to grayscale and I think that's the problem. I've tried making a couple of others and they worked perfectly. I tried themegence with that image and it still didn't work. It's either something with the gradient or the grayscale.

What are other people using?

Take the picture you want to use and set it to 300 dpi BEFORE you resize it.that way you wont lose detail when you resize to 240x320. Photoshop elements works well

Confirm that your pictures are 240x320. The picture in your posting is 240x294.

I think regular Photoshop CS3 won't work, if I set a image to 300dpi (it sayds pixels/inch) and save it, then open it, its still 72dpi. I think it has something to do with having to use save for web and devices in order to save JPGs.
