Should I get it?

Hey everyone. I lurk around these forums all the time, but just registered today. I've been in quite a pickle recently, so I decided to post here to get some 3rd party opinions on the situation. I also posted this over in the Omnia forum to get both sides.

I'm looking to get a ppc, but which one to get is the problem. I seem to be stuck between the Omnia and the Diamond. I know that I do not want a hardware keyboard because I have always had them and want something different.

I am currently a member of verizon, so when I saw the Omnia i was :O I want that, but the diamond was originally what I wanted. If I was to choose the Diamond, then I would probably also switch to Sprint instead of getting one put on the vzw network just because I am getting tired of verizon.

One thing that is really knocking the Omnia for me is the resolution of the screen, compared to the diamond. Also, how expensive is a plan with verizon to have unlimited data in it? I really don't want to go through their website searching for it hoping someone here would know. I know Sprint is fairly cheap, so that's another plus for the diamond.

Lastly, customization doesn't seem that promising for the Omnia compared with the Diamond, but I may be wrong. Thoughts on this would help a lot.

Thanks in advanced!

Btw, this was a copy and paste, but I tried to edit things to make more sense for the diamond side of things.

Re: Should I get it?

Well I can't say that I know much about the verizon phone, but I can tell you that Sprint's data pricing can't be beat. I know this is not an answer to your question, but figured I'd throw it out there.

Re: Should I get it?

i would personally go for the diamond....if your not happy with it just wait for another hack or try another rom lol....also sprint has best prices right now as well as a port in credit of 50 bucks if you keep your number...i think its the way to go and i think youll be happier with the diamond in the long run

Re: Should I get it?

Yeah. Sprint's prices are a factor in choosing. Omnia seems to lack in customization, which sways me towards the diamond.

Re: Should I get it?

I think you will be happier with the diamond and with sprint as well. I got tired of VZ, their prices, customer service, willing to help and even better reception where I use my phone at least. Unlimited night is from 7pm to 7 am!

With sprint they are more flexible. With only 3 months with them, they allowed me to get a new phone (the diamond) paying the price of a new plan.

Also, look for SERO plan (search) and if you are lucky, you may even get UNLIMITED everything for 69.99 a month.

Anyway, I will probably never be back to vzw.

Re: Should I get it?

I think most people in the Diamond forum are going to tell you to get a Diamond. I have one and I love it. Your best bet is to play around with both and see which one you prefer.

Re: Should I get it?

I was with Verizon for many years, changed to Sprint a little over two years ago. Verizon was pretty good for what I needed at the time, but when I decided to move to a Windows mobile device, there was no comparison. The data is included in my plan, along with unlimited text messaging. I pay about 50-60% of what I would pay with Verizon for comparable coverage. The only down side to Sprint is that the customer service is sometimes a little sketchy ... but even that can be a good thing, especially if you know how to negotiate. The SERO plans and the perks are simply unbeatable.

As for the choice of phones ... hands down, the Diamond (VGA alone is worth it). The support and possibilities that are available on this site will not only make your experience fun, your phone will come alive. Good luck, and welcome aboard!

Re: Should I get it?

Sprint, IMO, is way better for the techie, because Sprint is not as bad as verizon when it comes to data services.
