Post your greatest "iKiller" moment!!

I've done all the searches and I've come up empty so I thought I'd start one.

Ok I just got this phone less than a month ago. And with all the things surrounding the Pro vs iPhone, I just wanted to know if anyone here has truely performed an "iKiller" moment. I haven't come across someone with an iPhone yet to compete against , but once I do I will post!!

Apparently, threads like this are necessary in order for some people to make themselves feel better about owning the Touch Pro and not having the ability to get an iPhone.

If you really must know -

1) Turn-by-turn directions
2) Editing Word Documents
3) Video camera
4) Flash LED - as flaslight
5) Higher resolution screen

I ran across this guy the other day who made a point to show me his new iphone and tell me how great it was. I told him i was sure it was a great phone but it can only look like an iphone. I proceeded to show him TF3d bbextreme 3.1, ifonz, pointui2, Fewidgets and that it was all pc based and i could do video. Told him yours is only an iphone and mine is a chamalion. It changes into what i want.

He was not as excited about his phone once i slide ky keyboard out. I can afford an iphone but why?

Re: Post your greatest "iKiller" moment!!

LOL "ikiller"...

Ok:

MS Office editing
Opening a new internet tab
Multitasking (essential)
Interface changing
Camera taking better pics.
Dashwire (Oh how I love this app)
Sprite Terminator's tracking, locking & wiping :D
Freeware (Yeah, the grass is greener on this side)
Google Maps + Lattitude

And my favorite: Copy and paste.

(Ok this is a combination of 2 "moments" so sue me. >_>)

I'm getting my *** handed to me with Storage though (Diamond owner) and iPhone games are oddly good (against my inner bias + expectations). :p
But I have no admiration for phone games though:/ Thats where my PSP comes in.

these are the only valid ones I've seen

but most of this stuff yall think an iphone cant do is easily done when jailbroken, yes its not out of the box but its the same tradeoff IMO because most of the times we have to apply all these tweaks, reg edits, roms, and hacks to get our devices to function like we want too

Re: Post your greatest "iKiller" moment!!

Im a Software Engineer senior student (so I know my way around perty much anything that envoles software design). My friends have all started this "Im gonna make Iphone apps" so they got there mac minis and all this stuff making there apps. They are still working on getting anything done. I open up C++ probly 10mins of typing and im like Boom pong on my phone! they still trying to figure out how to load the Iphone program editer lol. On top of that Im look look at all these programs that were free! Then I copy and paste and they start to cry... LOL...

Someone said new internet tab.... HUH? Iphones do internet tabbing better then opera. If anything the only thing the iphone has that I want is the a good webbrowser... Then again Iphone browser with flash would be perfect... Then again they were like "you cant pinch to zoom in" and im like I dont have to zoom in VGA! set font to medium in opera never need to zoom...

I found it to be a pain, not as much control AFAI played with...*Things could've changed since September, when I last borrowed it*
Opera was easier, esp with new link windows. and the + copy paste between tabbed pages & the downloads tab.

So yes, opening tabs in Opera is a pure win IMO.

Re: Post your greatest "iKiller" moment!!

It usually starts out with whoever has an iPhone sees my Touch Pro and tries to compare it and then they start talking about the App Store and how it can do this and that and I just tell them that the Touch Pro can probably do it better, and if not *pulls out the iPhone* I always got an iPhone too!

Thats usually when the person shuts up.

I got a good one kinda anti app store...

So Im playing my NES emulator and my friend comes over "NES emulator thats cool I got it on my jailbreaked iphone" Then he proceeds to ask me if i got a certain game... i go no... he responds "that sucks my iphone has that one"..... I pause my game and boot opera... "Hold on let me go download it"... log onto a rom site and within a minute was playing it.... He asked me if AT&T had the TP....

Why do people feel this is necessary??

I don't have an iphone, but I do have a 16 gig ipod Touch & it certainly has some things I would kill for in my TP. The ipod screen may not be as high resolution, but guess what -it is just as big & beautiful outside in the direct sun where I can't even see the screen on my TP.

I would kill to have that super responsive screen that is readable outside running the awesome Safari browser in my TP...........

My ipod touch was one of the best things I ever bought. I can use that & not have to carry around 18 batteries for the TouchPro + I connect to the TP with WMwifirouter & use the wonderful Safari setup & very responsive touch screen for browsing the net.

Once I tried using the touch for browsing, all the TP browsers totally sucked in comparison.

LOL, exactly.

So, for all of you, your answers all begin with

1) I ask him to move inside and then....

I've got both. As long as you are a subterranean cave dweller with hyperfine 20-10 vision and fingers that end in non-scratching stylus points, the TP screen is better.

I see no point in these threads either. The average iPhone user vs any NON-XDA/PPCGeeks WinMo user will be mopping the floor, walls, and ceiling with functionality out of the box. Sure, you and I can take the raw hardware and ripped apart operating system tweaked out like the meth addict down the street and make it "better then an iPhone". Whooo. We win!

Next time you "klill" an iPhone user, ask him when was the last time he reset/rebooted his phone. After he looks at you like you are from Mars, show him the reset button right there on your phone where it's easy to get to. Ask to see the reset button on his iPhone. See, we win again! We have a better reset button!

Meh. These threads are silly.

(Oh, and to the software engineering student - you need to find smarter friends - While the learning curve from 0 to MacOS developer is steep, it's not *that* steep. I'm an old guy with 30+ years of development experience and I managed it without difficulty. The APIs are no more convoluted then the massive Win32 (or god help you, dot net) apis used for Windows Mobile.)

Re: Post your greatest "iKiller" moment!!

Anti-glare screen = readable in sun light... (i think i might have adjusted the light sensor to be a little brighter too)

And to all the people who are like why do you do this!?!?! simply to explain I have been a quality product man for awhile. This is a common arguement in the Creative Lab groups too I would never buy an IPod I feel I get a much better quality with a creative lab mp3 player. What irritates me and problem irritates everyone here. Is my phone and my mp3 player are always been called a iphone or a ipod... or better yet an iphone or an Ipod rip off. No if someone said my WinMo phone was a palm rip off I'd understand. But this whole idea that apple invented every major product to come out in the last decade is annoying. Thus these threads start.

Yea I know... Personaly as a person who taught himself C++ at the age of 10 I found .net to be a rather easy API to use and I'm quite fond of it. The issue right now all CS and SE majors are being taught almost everything in java and java only. These guys cant even make a html document without GoogleWebtool kit. I dont know how the software industry is gonna survive after this next line of Software Engineers get onto the playing feild.

You can't be talking about the TouchPro screen unless yours has a drastically different screen that the three I own.

I don't care what you set the screen brightness at, if you are out in the direct sun it's hard to even tell if the screen is on or off.......

Are you on the moon or something? Cuz I live in Florida Id say the sun is perty damn bright here at mid day I sit out side of class in the sun and use my phone. Yes sometimes I have to disable the light sensor and turn the brightness all the way up (kill my battery inturn) but I can see my screen fine anough to read some new articles on opera (medium font no zoom).

Re: Post your greatest "iKiller" moment!!

Look, I love my TouchPro's (that's why I have three of them)

That being said, I find the screen almost totally useless in the bright sun.

I have an eight year old daughter who absolutely loves playing soccer (& to make matters worse, I HATE soccer -I am an NFL football nut) & I would love to be able to kill time on the side of the field using the TP & OperaMini (the closest thing I've found to Safari) I tried repeatedly to use it & it was so frustrating I finally gave up.

At that point, I borrowed another Dad's iphone who happened to be standing there to check my gmail account. The difference in the screen & the two different browsers was night & day. Browsing around using Safari on a screen that doesn't look much different outside in the bright sun as it does indoors is a true pleasure. The larger screen size is nice also (I can't wait for the TP2 with the bigger screen)

I went out the next day & bought a 16 gig Ipod touch & I love the thing.......

There is nothing wrong with the Iphone....I just don't like ATT. If it was available for Sprint with a 70 everything plan, I might consider it. Then again I do love my TP.

That was one of my biggest gripes when the Iphone came out (beside the already standing hatred against Macitosh Nazi Advertising and love for my vx6700 at the time) was the fact that you had to get it on AT&T and it used slow edge network. Plus they had a plan you had to have with the iphone that was like 140 bucks a month. It was crazy pethetic. That deal with AT&T should have never happened.

My Buddy and I are always trading punches when it comes to my Diamond and his Iphone. I do have an Ipod Touch so I can definitely say that the Apple products are nice..but, once I showed my good friend how I could start up WMWifiRouter and run his laptop at near broadband speed, well he was sold. Game over.:headbang:

Just imagine how many iphones there would be out there if you could get them on either Sprint or Verizon service. There are tons of them around anyway, but there would be an awful lot more out there if you weren't forced to use ATT service to get one........

Heck, if you could use one on VZ I would have both an iphone & my TouchPro's.........

This thread is really just a collection of all our insecurities about the iPhone. Does it really matter that much?

Bottom line is that the iPhone is fine and WMO phones are fine too. It's personal preference.

Thank you. That's the word I was looking for. Are you that insecure about buying the Touch Pro that you have to find ways to bash the iphone? In my opinion, comparing the TP to the iPhone is like comparing it to the instinct. The iphone is a great PHONE that can do alot of cool useless things. The Touch Pro is a pocket PC which also functions as a phone. Personally, if an overpriced plan wasn't required, i'd probably have an iphone but WinMo is more targeted towards a business user with it's abilities to do pretty much what a windows computer can do while the iphone is targeted at any average person who wants a cool gadget. TP vs iPhone is Apples vs. Oranges

While I agree that there are SOME people that are a likely a little insecure, a lot of other people probably just like to show off what their devices can do that other devices cannot. Its that simple. No need to get all Dr. Phil :) Some people buy gadgets partially so they can show people that they have this and here is what it can do and you can't possibly do that with what you have... so there!
