Keep HTC Pro or get a Treo 800w

Treos (WM or Palm OS) are great email/chat/sms devices because of the easy to use and up front keyboard. They're also great office devices (calendars, tasks, etc. i.e. the core functions of WM)

If you do a lot of that then I say go for it.

Reasons for a Touch Pro:

• You write longer documents/emails
• Need the larger screen (multimedia, personal preference, reading)
• You like sliders
• Standalone GPS

Reasons for 800w:

• Cheaper to buy
• Great build quality (resistant to drops, bangs, etc.)
• Great for sms/im/email
• Very zippy & straightforward
• Convenient ringer switch, wifi, email and calendar buttons

Of course both devices have their other pros and cons too and a lot of it is subjective. Why not try it for a week and if you don't like it, just swap it back out again, you should have 30 days with it.

Personally, I need and like lots of well placed buttons. I can do so much, so quickly on a 800w, half of which I don't need to be looking at the screen for when I'm doing it (like launching my email). But I see the rationale for the sliders too.

Dont forget the "playing around" ascept of the Touch and the ROM cooking. Thats a biggie for me.

I do miss the keypad for sure. I hate sliders. I like the extra buttons. I hate the dirty screen. I do not miss going through 3 devices (2 for the same reason).

It really is all personal taste. But, the 320X320 screen is rediculous to me. It looks very washed out and bland. The phone looks ugly to me as well. I would have kept the Touch Pro. Much more features than the 800w...

I had a treo 650, 700wx, 700p, and a 755. I got a touch pro like 4 mo. ago, I was so excited I couldnt wait to get home and play with it. From the moment I took it out of the box it was the biggest pyle of crap. Dont get me wrong it does alot of cool ****, But I called sprint and used the ins. and got a new one, thinging it was just MY phone. I bought a 800w from a freind of mine and I love this 800w more than any of my other treo phones. I sold my touch pro as soon as it got to my house. And they guy that bought it from me has had nothing but problems right out of the box

What kinds of problems? I read a bit about issues with the TP on this site, but I've been enjoying it greatly.

Personally, I would prefer the TP, but I did try out the 800w as well, and it did have rather impressive performance too, it's almost as powerful, sporting 256mb ram, which is close to the TP's 288mb.

Overall, they're both excellent devices.

Thanks for all the advise. I ended up keeping the touch pro and now using a custom rom that works great. But based on all the comments here, they are both good choices.

The touch pro is just an impressive device, it'll impress people, and for a reason.

The tero is nice....but damn with the palm pre coming out...i'd much rather have that if I went palm.

I hate palm keyboard.....the centro jaded me....hate it....
