In the short run, I'm trying to get away from an old Razor and into a smart phone that I'll still like, if not love, for the two years I'll be yoked to AllVerizon. Does anyone have advice/truth about the inability to send from a POP3 server issue? Some research I've done since the original post indicates that the "freezing" I've seen reported is primarily because people aren't using Task Manager to shut down programs they've been running. Is this generally the case? |

Re: Please convince me to buy a Touch Pro!
Ive got the Touch Pro and My wife has the BB Curve. Hands down I take the Touch Pro over the Curve. You may think you just need a phone that texts, emails, makes calls etc but when you see all te stuff you can do with the Pro you'll be amazed on a daily basis. Hell, the other night I used mine as a level to hang a picture. The only thing her Curve has over the Pro is battery life which is something your not concerned with.
In your case the only issue for me would be Verizon. From what Ive read they've "dumbed down" they're version of the TP. I read alot of people having memory issues and other resource issues. In fact, I see a ton of people buying Sprints TP and putting it on Verizons service. As for emails, Im using my pop3 email just fine. I can send and recieve attachments and have no issues at all. I am on Sprints service though so maybe Verizon is different. |

Re: Please convince me to buy a Touch Pro!
Actually, I'll start out with Alltel service and only move to Verizon when the merge is finally finished. And if it weren't for the fact that my wife and son still have over a year on their contracts, I'd very likely be looking to move to Sprint -- I've heard that many things about what Verizon has done to dumb down all of their smart phone offerings and add charges for basic smart phone usage.
What I know is that Verizon will have to honor all of the things I get with Alltel; if they change anything in my contract or service offerings, I can leave with no penalty. I truly appreciate the advice. |

Re: Please convince me to buy a Touch Pro!
Update:
I got the BB Curve, used it for 3 weeks and took it back to get the TP when I still could. The Curve was okay, but it was boring after 2 weeks. I've had the TP for two days, and I'm digging it. The Alltel stock ROM seems to be performing fine (though at some point I can see myself figuring out how to bust into the ROM to eliminate all the stuff I don't need), battery performance is as expected, and POP email works (though I had to set up my existing accounts through a free Alltel email service in order to send). Thanks again to all who offered advice, and thanks to everyone on the site. I've been trolling around looking at various posts in order to better serve my new obsession. |

Re: Please convince me to buy a Touch Pro!
I would not get the TP. I would not get the TP. I would not get the TP.
If that doesn't make you get one, nothing will. Mind Bending, ain't it?

Of course, it's too late. I got it, I love it, I will (one day) achieve nothing like mastery over it. |
