Thank you for contacting Sprint. I am sorry for the inconvenience you
have experienced due to the handset problem.

As stated in the last interaction by previous representatives that the
handset is still under the manufacturing warranty. Therefore, I would
suggest you to please purchase the Touch PRO handset at the nearest
Sprint Store and we will send the return kit for the HTC Mogul through
e-care. Once this handset is returned to the warehouse the account will
be credited for the handset price. This way you will be charged only
the price difference of the handset.

The account will be credited for the handset in 1 to 2 billing cycle.
However, I would suggest you to please provide us the Tracking Number of
the returned handset and we will apply the credit of the handset through
e-care.

In addition to this, I can offer you additional $50.00 credit from my
side on handset upgrade. So, you need to purchase the handset at the
Sprint Store and after activating it just replay and we will apply the
$150.00 ($100.00 previous promised +$50.00 promised now) credit on the
account.

If you need any further assistance please write back. I will assist you
further.

Thank you again for e-mailing Sprint. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

Customer Service Specialist

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

No Sprint is taking $130 off of the price.

Raging Idiot 10-06-2008 01:41 PM

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

fun with numbers...

$580 (retail of pro as stated Sep.1)
$550 (retail of 6800 currently)

"you will be charged only
the price difference of the handset."

580-550 = $30

"In addition to this, I can offer you additional $50.00 credit from my side on handset upgrade. So, you need to purchase the handset at the Sprint Store and after activating it just replay and we will apply the $150.00 ($100.00 previous promised +$50.00 promised now) credit on the
account."

$150 - $30 = $120

So by my math you should end up with bottom line of extra $120. ;)
Of course they need to clarify, as they said this rather open-ended, and possibly entirely wrong.

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

after about 3 emails to ecare, i finally got them to crack and agree to let me replace my mogul to the touch pro once released. Will just have to pay the difference in price between the phones.

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

What email are yall sending to get them replaced...? What you saying?

I am on my 5th Mogul.. They keep telling me to swap it again or wait to pay for the touch Pro

SkunkApe 10-07-2008 11:45 AM

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

basically just told them all the problems ive been having with the phnoe (which is all true). Im on my 3rd one. The one ive had now is about 2 months old... and having freezing issues, and laggy as hell. Asked them if there was anyway i could replace the mogul with an upgrade, possibly the touch pro when released. I also mentioned in the email that i would really like to STAY AWAY from getting another mogul since it seems to be an ongoing problem with this phone

go to sprint.com, sigh in, go to "contact us" and there should be a link that says "e-mail" which would then go to ecare

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

This is the email that I sent to E-CARE. All issues I said I experienced are true. Hopefully, they will decide to take the same route as some of you have experienced.

Quote:

I bought an HTC Mogul in January. I have been having non-stop probelms with the phone. The bluetooth is not functioning correctly. It takes 3-4 trys to connect my bluetooth headset before it pairs. Also, the device itself crashes constantly. In the middle of a text message, playing solitare, or even just being plugged into the charger, the phone will freeze up. I bought this phone under full faith that it would function properly without issues. I have insurance on this device, and have returned it everytime it has acted up. I am now on my 3rd phone in less then 12 months. I have come to expect good service and great devices from Sprint. I have been a loyal customer of Sprint for many years. I may need to look else where for mobile service if this issue is not resolved.

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

My 2nd Mogul is ****ting the bed again. The green phone button won't respond nor will my email button, the keyboard's function key needs to be pressed extra hard, and somehow I was signed up for SprintTV, despite NEVER having used the service before (yeah, I know that's not related to the shoddy Mogul quality...). I'm definitely gonna try to get this replaced, ugh.

just reply, unless it gets to the point where it doesnt look like they'll accomodate your request... wait a few days and repeat... at some point you'll have success... it only took me 4 emails for it to work.

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

I got my reply back from Sprint.

Quote:

Thank you for bringing your concern to Sprint. I am sorry for the
inconvenience caused to you due to the phone on your account.

There must be some technical issue, which can only be resolved by our
technicians after running a test on the phone. This can only be done at
a Sprint Repair center. The account has the Total equipment Protection
Program (TEP) added on it. This will ensure the free repair of your
phone.

Therefore, I would request you to visit the nearest Sprint Repair
Center. On line 2187, the HTC Touch phone is active. HTC Mogul was
previously activated on this line. The HTC Touch phone was activated on
your account as of March 8, 2008. Hence, your phone is still covered
under the Manufacturers Warranty. At the repair center you will also be
assisted that your device can be returned under the warranty or not.

You can yourself locate the Sprint Repair Center nearby your place by
clicking on the hyperlink given below:

<http://www.storelocator.sprint.com/>

Further, under the TEP, you can also claim a replacement device for you.
To get a replacement phone, just contact Asurions at 800- 584-3666.
Asurion agent hours of operation are:

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Central Time)
Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Central Time)

Thank you again for choosing Sprint. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

I think I am going to continue to press the issue. As an aside,
I find it funny that their computer system has my phone listed as an HTC Touch, not
the Mogul that I use.

Here is my reply to that E-Mail

Quote:

The phone that is currentlyin use is not a HTC Touch, but a HTC Mogul. I have been to the Sprint
Repair Center many times. Every time they look at my phone, they are unable to correct the issue and they decide to issue a replacement.
This course of action is becoming repetitive and frustrating. I have made claims under TEP, and this also has not resovled the issue. I
spoke with a representative about the problems
and researched them online and found that this device, the HTC Mogul, isn't malfunctioning, these are known common issues.
They seem to be
design flaws that have still not been resolved via software updates, and with the Touch Pro on the way, there will be no more
updates. I enjoy the service I get through Sprint, but how my phone is acting after a single year is unacceptable

does this look like it will not work for me are should i continue to drill them. this is the first email i received from them.

Dear Mr. Brown,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand your concern regarding
the handset.

I am sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing regarding your
handset.

If the handset does not meet the customer's satisfaction, we provide
30-days return policy. Under this policy, a phone can be returned,
exchanged or replaced without any charges.

I am sorry, as the 30-days period is over, we will not be able to
exchange the handset.

The phone is under manufacturer's warranty and also includes the Total
Equipment Protection Plan. An onsite technician needs to check the
phone and determine if the defect can be repaired or replaced under
Total Equipment Replacement Program.

As the phone cannot be checked remotely from e-Care, I suggest you to
please visit a Sprint Service and Repair location near you to get the
phone checked. To locate the nearest Sprint Service and Repair
location, please click on the hyperlink below:

http://www.sprintstorelocator.com

The repair will be done without any charges.

If the defect will be beyond repair, the technician will suggest you of
the replacement options (Manufacturer or through Asurion at 800-
584-3666).

Also, any replacement phone will be for same model. Also, we provide
refurbished phones and not the new phones under replacement.

You can also upgrade your phone to a new handset. However, the phone is
not eligible for rebates on handset upgrade.

If you have any further query, just write back to us.

Re: Finally sprint agree to swap me from 6800 to touch pro when it release.

this is what they sent me

Thank you for writing back to us.

I apologize, as the repair/replacement option is not helpful to you.

You can upgrade the faulty handset to our upcoming HTC Pro. The handset
will be launched on October 19, 2008. Till now, we do not have the
price information for HTC Pro.

The phone is not eligible for rebates on the phone upgrade. Considering
the inconvenience experienced by you, I offer a credit of $100.00 on
handset upgrade to HTC Pro.

You can keep this mail as a confirmation of my promise.

I received the same boilerplate response that Brown88 received two posts up. That must be their first line of defense, just to put people who aren't persistent off the track.

I've replied back re-stating my dissatisfaction with the Mogul... I'll keep you posted of the results.

BTW, it took two emails via ecare to receive the initial response...

Dear Mr. Brown,

Thank you for your reply.

As mentioned in the previous e-mail, the account is not eligible for the
handset upgrade. However, looking at the inconvenience you are facing
with the handset, we have offered a $100.00 credit on the new handset.
This is the maximum credit that we can offer from our end. You can reply
to this e-mail after activating the new handset, we apply the credit of
$100.00 on the account.

We are very sorry that your Mogul phone is not working as you had
expected.

But unfortunately, we are unable to exchange it for HTC Touch Pro as it
is beyond 30 days return period.

We are offering you to purchase HTC Touch Pro for $249.99 which is a
very special arrangement for you and are not even available for the new
connections. I am sorry but we are unable to offer any further discount
on this phone.

Thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your business.

In addition to this, I received a phone call both on my cell phone - which I did not answer - then at my home phone at approx 8:00 am PST from someone in India because I had not yet replied to their email sent at 3 AM PST. He said that I had not yet replied and asked me if I wanted to order the Touch for $249. I told him that it was unacceptable, and that he was wasting my time because he was calling me without a better offer than what they emailed. I let him know not to call me until he could provide a better offer.

I will be sending another email....

Your phone currently has a one-year manufacturer's warranty. This is one
year from the date of activation. An onsite technician will need to
confirm that the defect is covered under the warranty. Please visit a
Sprint Store to verify the same. I fully acknowledge that you have to
travel some distance to reach our store. However, please consider
visiting the store as this will only solve your concern

Please click on the hyperlink below to find the nearest Sprint Store:

If the defect would be found under manufacturer warrant, please contact
the manufacturer at 866-449-8358. This is direct number to contact the
manufacturer Customer Services.

We at Sprint offer great rebates for the existing customers depending
upon the handset life on the account. I really understand the situation
and would be glad to clarify the procedure under which we offer Handset
Upgrade Rebates.

Rebate on the purchase of new PCS Phone while upgrading the current PCS
Phone does not depend on the active age of the account with Sprint.
Rebate directly depends on the activate age of the currently active PCS
Phone on the account.

If the current PCS Phone on the account is active from more than 22
months, account is eligible for $150.00 rebate. If the phone is active
on the account from more than 12 months but less than 22 months, we
offer $75.00 rebate.

So, rebate on the phone is directly associated with active age of the
currently active PCS Phone. As per this rebate offer, you are not
eligible for any Rebate on the purchase of a new PCS Phone.

The HTC Touch Diamond was scheduled to be launched on September 02,

I am writing in regards to some serious issues I have had with the Sprint PCS Mogul, which I purchased in January. Shortly after receiving my Mogul, I noticed problems with the Bluetooth functionality, where I could hear callers on my headset, but to them my voice sounds choppy. It is simply unacceptable to not be able to use my phone in a business environment. These problems, I expect, are not happening on the new Touch Pro. What I would like is for you is to order the HTC Touch Pro phone and arrange a return kit for the HTC 6800 handset. On receipt of the return kit, I will send back the HTC 6800 handset at the address mentioned and the charge for this phone should then be credited back to my account. This way, the account will be charged only for the difference in charge of the two phones (HTC 6800 handset and HTC Touch Pro phone). Please escalate this to a supervisor if you do not have the authority to do this. I have come to expect great service and excellent devices from Sprint, but I may need to take my business else where if this issue can not be resolved.
Best regards

I guess I have higher expectations of a $550 phone. I guess I just expect it to work correctly, as advertised, and I guess that I expect a company to stand behind the products that they sell. Am I expecting too much? I don't think so.

I shop at Nordstroms. Why? They stand behind their products.

I no longer take my car to the service garage at my local Ford dealership. Why? They did not stand behind their work, so I found a shop that would.

I shop through the Amway Global/Quixtar website... why? I get a 180 day no questions asked money back guarantee on everything... all I have to do is return the EMPTY container if I don't like something.

I buy alot of electronics at Fry's. Why? They take everything I've ever needed to return back, without any "restocking fee" and without any hassles (although their customer service people could stand to have a class on "how to smile and make our customers feel welcome")

I guess I prefer to give my money to companies that are willing to give stellar customer support and understand the principal that 1 ticked-off customer will tell 10 of his friends about how badly they were treated, while 1 happy customer MIGHT tell 2 or 3 people about how pleased they are... and thus are willing to work to spread the word through happy customers.

The unfortunate thing is that the Cell phone companies have you locked in to poor customer service and crappy devices through their penalizing contracts.

Ok i read most of this thread. But for you experienced guys i have a couple questions if you don't mind.

First off I have only been with sprint since July, and i am on the old SERO plan. I have the replacement add on plan for $7 a month, and it is still under warranty. Knowing all this do I have any chance of getting the pro to replace this phone? I have had nothing but trouble with this phone since i got it, and it really didn't live up to my expectations. I however don't know what options I have due to the SERO plan being changed.

Anyway i truly would appreciate any guidance as to how i should maybe go about trying to replace the phone.

Thanks in advance!
