I understand that the mogul is inherently a better device. my questions has to do with why can't the mogul or any other ppc perform at that speed.
i've read drivers, software/hardware integration, bloated wm6, what about cpu speed? how does the cpu match up?

Comparing CPU Speed would be like comparing CPU Speed on something running Windows 3.1 to Windows Vista. The Windows Vista machine might be running a 100X faster CPU at 1600 Mhz, but the Windows 3.1 would be more responsive at 16 Mhz (with 1/10 the RAM too).

The other as was stated was no WM OS. Blackberry's OS is made specifically for that device. Optimized and tailored for that particular hardware!

The 8830 is the only device I would compare favorably with the Mogul. Has a full keyboard and just about all the bells and whistles.

But good luck hearing it ring!

i cant hear the mogul ring worth ****....i could hear my blackberry 8830 over a freight train.....im using DCDs ROM with the volume cranked and i still can barely hear it

Word.. i even went so far as to drop allll my ringtone files into my audio editing software and crank up the decibals and still.. nothing.

I miss calls all the time in the car cause you can't hear the effin thing. I guess that's why i'm gonna try the Motorola IC902 for a month... *sigh*

I used Trianglepowers 6700 hacks to up the CPU speed, and I SCREAM on my Mogul. I have the CPU overclocked at 41952, and it runs like a charm, even with all the bells and whistles I have loaded on it.

I know this is blasphemy but IMO the Mogul isn't inherently better that the BB.
It really DEPENDS on what you are looking for. There is a REASON why BB are so popular among business professionals.... That is what it's designed to do and fast.

The Mogul is aimed really at a different crowd.

It's like comparing a sports car to a SUV. They are different types of vehicles aimed for different things.

I just used my friend's BB Curve and I'm sold on it.... I will be offering my Mogul on here soon so you geeks can have a crack at it before it goes on Ebay. I have nothing against the Mogul but like was said...it's what you need the device for and the Curve fits my needs better.

i am close to no lag on my touch with a wm 6.1 rom and 16mb page pool i could make it faster with higher pagepool but you dont want to sacrifice alot of ram.
