Re: I just played with my friend's new Blackberry and...
Yea, I think that pretty much sums it up. Windows Mobile is too much "one size fits all" and made to run on tons of platforms. RIM just has to worry about the models they are putting out themselves and are spending the time developing the OS around their actual hardware implementation. Some companies go the extra distance to fill in where Windows Mobile doesn't on their individual hardware platforms (i.e. HTC with HTC Home and several other UI-improving software) while companies also don't tailor thing to the individual hardware platforms (i.e. HTC not equipping their 3d-video-equipped phones with drivers that can actually use it and destroying performance on the Titan).
Same holds true with iPhone, the companies just spent a much longer time building an entire platform around their hardware model where Microsoft is on hundreds of models of phones and the companies making the phones aren't taking the time to customize the OS to their phone's individual specs (and Microsoft's one-size-fits-all bloats it a bit). |

Actually, I think it comes down to video drivers. A good example would be how your computer at home runs before you install the video drivers for it.

Re: I just played with my friend's new Blackberry and...
No a lot of it has to do with no touch screen having to poll the device looking for input...
The other as was stated was no WM OS. Blackberry's OS is made specifically for that device. Optimized and tailored for that particular hardware! The 8830 is the only device I would compare favorably with the Mogul. Has a full keyboard and just about all the bells and whistles. But good luck hearing it ring! |

Quote:
Mogul - Bigger OS + more features = slower response. The BB does fewer things and is specifically designed to do those things well. |
