If the iPhone were 3G on Sprint..then yes..no question in my mind..though I would miss the Mogul's keypad, I'm sure.

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I really figured there'd be less people on this site picking the iPhone.
It gives the impression that you are only here because you HAVE to be. You've picked sides now, so watch your back punks. (kidding, don't flame me) Honestly though, are there any forums or sites with this much to offer for iPhone fans and tweakers? Just a thought. I really don't know. |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I wonder, those that voted for the Mogul, do they have the iphone theme installed? LOL
|
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I voted for the Mogul and I don't have the iPhone theme installed BUT I have the iPhone dialpad with the non-functioning 911 and re-dial! LOL I wanna switch to a different dialpad but I like the call status box that comes with iPhone dialpad.

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
Great question...
I really do like the iPhone and thinks it's a cool unit, but I'd miss the customization and such. Plus, everyone has one...and I like my direct push. A bigger screen coupled with less RAM issues would be nice tho. |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
Just for kicks I tried searching around for for an iPhone with a wm6 theme.
Nothing. (sigh) |

Not trying to rag on the Iphone, which is a very nice product. I'm just pointing out that there are other reasons to choose a phone than a well designed interface. |

i couldnt agree with you more... the mogul has potential to be perfect, but wth sprint the idea of perfect is non existant... i love the phone but hate the lag, but deal with it becuase not every phone out there lets you use Mr.T's voice to give you directions and allows you to do just about anything you can think of... oh yeah , and dont forget the "free" tethering....sprint sero, and no need to use iPune...that program drives me insane... Vote zune phone on sprint...heh |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
IMO,
It's like OSX & Windows. Both are different, but you can't customize the iPhone to the degree you can with the Mogul...yes, it's more complicated, and has more problems, but you can do so much with it! ...and the iphone doesn't have GPS, just tower triangulation! |

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
There is no doubt in my mind that Iphone is nice, fancy, slick, comes with much storage space and have a nice bigger screen with more resolution.
But, for what I do.. Mogul is my firm choice. Sure, Mogul has a problem here and there and could use some improvements.. But, nothing gets me closer to my needs from a mobile device than a Mogul does. I can tether it to my laptop to use its internet access.. or even setup a wi-fi network to share the internet access.. or VPN into my home/work networks.. and Remote Desktop into my home/work computers.. I can listen to Sirius radio.. or watch YouTube or Google Video.. or Send/Receive corporate emails from a exchange server.. and it has a full QWERTY keyboard for easy IM, Email, and internet experience.. play emulator games with PocketGB or Final Burn.. The list goes on and on.. But most of all.. Mogul is soooooo extremely configurable, and there are tons of Apps and Utilities available to make your mogul the way you want it exactly. |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
And don't forget, right now, it actually plays flash!
...and Powerpoint, Word and Excel. Expandable memory. A real keyboard. Can we officially call it, the iMogul? |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I thought about an iPhone before I bought my Mogul but as nice as the OS and screen are, the Mogul had more must-have features for me. I vastly prefer a keypad over pecking at a screen. I use my Mogul as a high speed WiFi hotspot all the time for my laptop and friends' laptops via WMWiFi. I love the 3g speed. I love the GPS. I love all of the random apps out there for it.
That said, if they gave it a higher resolution screen, added RAM, trimmed the thickness down a little, and modernized the OS, I would like the Mogul even more. I figure that's something I will probably see in a year and then I will likely upgrade when something like that is out. |

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I HATE the iPhone... the screen is so sensitive that it took me 4 tries just to type "engadget" into Safari's address bar......
|
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
if we're gonna dream, why not dream big. Rather than have the iphone with sprint and 3G, why not have the tilt with 3G and sprint... ok Ron maybe that's fantasizing not dreaming... All that with SERO... hmmm That would definitely trump the iphone. Imagine the mogul with more ram for goodies... imagine the posibilities...

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
It was announced today that the Iphone gets a ****LOAD of new software upgrades today. I would still go with the mogul, but with all of these upgrades, the Iphone looks a LOT more appealing. I wish the mogul had more ram, but who doesnt.

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
Just out of curiousity, why compare the Iphone with the Mogul? Two different phones with two different capabilities, on two different platforms, built for two different styles of users. Apples and oranges to the extreme. The people who chose the Iphone, why haven't you tried out the Touch yet. Seems to me the Touch would be a more directly comparable phone to the Iphone. I will say though for me it comes down to what I want to do and what I want to present. I was in a room with 2 guys both who were playing with their iphones. Tinkering away and basically showing each other that they possess the same unupgradable hardware. I showed them my Touch and they initially scoffed at it. I uploaded my Iphone theme and did the same things that they were capable of doing. Then I unloaded it and showed them all the thing that the phone had that the Iphone lacked. Needless to say they were blown away by the technology in this phone. Safari browser is the only thing about the Iphone that I find remotely remarkable. But it all comes down to what you do. IPHONE is a gizmo....nuff said. Bells and whistles. Taking basic tech and making it look good(which is why we can duplicate it easy enough) Windows Mobile is ever changing, dynamic, customizable and ultimately built for the person who wants more than a media experience. So no, I won't vote for the iphone or the mogul. But I will vote for our OS over OSX

SDK BETA was released to developers today. The new version that supports this (2.0) will be available to users "by the end of June." So all software will be available through the itunes store in a software section. basically no new iPhone updates for another 3+ months. |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
If you take the vanilla Iphone vs WM Mobile handset of choice you end up with a compelling arguement for the Iphone. It does what it does very well out of the box. It is a polished kit that that runs smoothly and looks pretty. If you take a stock mogul or touch its is kind of clunky to tell you the truth. Its difficult to get into but damn once you do there is nothing better on a handset.
This is going to change a little as things like the SDK that was just released today opens up the iphone to more and more developers and serious developers (not just the hacker community that has been making things thus far) get to making apps. IPhone isnt unupgradable it just has been thus far. The OS isnt the problem, its been apples tight control over it. |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
Interesting Thread i started uhhhhhhhh

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
agreed. myself? I wouldnt get the iphone, not because its a bad device, like i said b4 the innovation that went into that thing is remarkable, but because it lacks to many things that pocket pc's have spoiled me with, especially the mogul. The Iphone IS great at what it does, but thats it! thats all it can do. Maybe when the iphone 2 comes out and people can actually do things with SDK then id consider it, til then...LONG LIVE THE MOGUL!

My current phone is the Mogul... before that it was the iPhone... before that it was the Blackberry Curve... and I would say the Curve wins in my book but I settled for the Mogul+Sero just for the Sero...

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I hung out with a friend who had an Iphone this weekend and I told him that i could do just about everything he could do with his phone. The difference is the iPhone seemed way faster and had 8GB built in. If this were on sprint, I cant think of many good reasons(besides being made by Apple) why not to get one...

Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
I owned and used the iPhone for 6 months, frequently switching back and forth between it and my ppc's. I can honestly say that it is the nicest phone I've ever owned. The WOW factor is incredible. The features are obviously the problem.
Safari is light years ahead of any wm browser I've ever used. Media Player is the same. Ease of use also, but with very limited functionality it better be! Windows Mobile is still way ahead as far as features. A2DP, IM, Sling, Video recording, etc etc. But I will say that with 3G and a good, program rich SDK community I would probably go back. Hopefully by then Windows mobile has caught up in everything else. Windows Mobile gets my vote by far... right now :) |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
Honestly and I hope SPRINT HEARS ME LOUD AND CLEAR. This crap of half-baked ROMS and phones by Sprint and HTC has me to the point I will have to give full consideration to a corporate version of the iPhone.
I am sick and tired of the lack of features on the WM devices at Sprint when the Sanyo off the shelf ones have the nicer services while we wait and wait and wait...and wait........ Bluetooth that works and works well is also paramount. Listen to this Sprint or we will vote with our collective monthly bills and opt out of the balance of our contracts. Yes we will pay your penalty but it will be a lot less then continuing to pay you for promised services which have not yet been delivered. |
Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul
Mogul cant Go a day with out messing with it, i love it. Got Colonel ROM in the mogul and its awesome!!!! :headbang:
