Re: iPhone Vs. Mogul

Yes, comparing the Mogul and iphone is like apples and oranges. The Mogul does more but once you've used Safari on the iphone you never want to use another mobile browser. It is THAT good. That is probably the ONE app that makes the iphone so compelling.

The mobile browsers for the PPC are trying to mimic it but it's still light years behind. I'd actually pay for Safari on the Mogul if it was available.

The mogul is still a very good device but it will NEVER has mass appeal like the iphone. Yes, the iphone is hyped, but it does work as advertised.

I like the iphone but will not support anything that has the mp3 restrictions as an ipod. I want an mp3 player that I can put mp3s in and play. I don't want to have to use only the programs that they say or hack it to play mp3s.

Too much restrictions for something that is so expensive. Those who don't know what I am talking about need not reply.

this is a tough one, if the iphone were windows mobile based then it would be a no brainer, rev A and gps on an iphone, while being completely customizable at the same time?? that would kill everything!

idk why someone would post a thread about this anyway with a poll, we know the vast majority here are biased anyway... people here hate the iphone for whatever reason but at the same time want to install all the iphone apps on their phones... pretty contradicting isn't it? it's a great phone, you just can't customize it like windows based phones, that's the only flaw- a big one, but the only one lol

Ok...listen I know I said iPhone earlier but it is a nice phone. Some features that the iPhone has, I'd like to have on my touch. I choose my touch over the mogul anyday. I hate the lack of customization on the iPhone but it does have some nice apps when hacked. I LOVE MY TOUCH THOUGH!!!!!!!! Windows mobile all day

I will keep my Mogul until I can get a Tilt on Sprint's network. I do NOT use the iPhone theme.

That said, when iPhone 2.0 is out with Exchange support and 3G, at least iPhone won't be the "bimbo" of all smartphones (all looks, no brains).

I wouldnt mind if the iphone finally got its faster speed and increased functionality. Its still a more closed system (non customizable) so I will never get it. The problem I have with it now is that it seriously lacks functionality and its touted as the greatest by its fans.

Too much focus on the handset itself. Seems to me, you should shop for a network and a rate plan first. Ultimately, you will spend more on service than hardware. And your overall experience will be determined more by service than hardware. Then, after you've decided on the the best network and rate plan, shop for the best compatible handset for your needs. That's how I ended up with Sprint/HTC 6800.

The AT&T/iPhone combo, on an ancient, slow, expensive data network, was never in the running. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have the larger screen, slick UI, and Safari browser. But GPS, tethering, exchange-push, and so many other things already mentioned here, make the WM platform + Sprint's EVDO Rev-A network (at reasonable pricing) an obvious choice. Although it does require some patience and determination to get a WM device functioning the way you want it. The average consumer (unlike us gadget freaks that hang out in these forums), will opt for something that functions as advertised out of the box. They will tolerate the higher priced, slower network and lack of upgrade options for the instant gratification and "status" that comes with owning an iPhone. Pretty good business model... get people to pay more for less. Smart consumers will ignore the sizzle and shop for the best steak.

I sorta agree and disagree, we "hate" the iphone as mogulers b/c our moguls could wipe the floor with iphones, in terms of capabilities. What we do "love" about the iphone is its graphical UI. When it comes to that the iphone kicks the moguls azz. With that being said, the reason we take these iphone skins IS because WE DO like the UI from the iphones. So to us loading iphone apps on the touch/mogul is like having the best of both worlds.

In terms of comparing the two, I have to agree with you, this isnt a fair comparison. The pocket pc is a mobile extension of the pc, weve just found ways to trick them out, the iphone is pretty much a media device with a gorgeous screen and innovative ui, with PIM features. Two different worlds IMHO
