-1 Wow....

a) 4G hype? What so hyped about it? Its fast as hell when you can get it. Thats not hype, thats truth.
keyword is underlined. as previously stated it is NOT available everywhere 3G is yet and in my city the coverage ends one block before my house and is spotty before then even. its hype because people become spoiled and don't want anything else but it even tho 3G was serving them fine just days before. same as HD and 3Dtvs bluray and DVD, everything technology basically.
b) Mango update.... buy the phone now and wait until September to gain full functionality that is already available on other platforms (Read: ANDROID!)... That sounds like Hype to me!
only thing Android devices offer is the 4G capabilities ,and super high end specs but yet still doesn't run as fast or stable out of the box as wp7 does even in its current state. lack of multitasking right now isn't much of a problem because my IM apps send me notifications when im not in them, that's kind of multitasking to me. there's also a few Android people that have moved to wp7 right now and aren't regretting it, won't find them on this site of course and when mango does hit it will offer everything Android does and more and do it all better
c) QWERTY phones a dying breed? Really? I tend to disagree. I think that is just your opinion. Do you have any sales data to back this up?
I don't but if u look at all the phones coming up only 2 or 3 at the most will be QWERTY sliders. and last time I checked,ur optimus S isn't one of these so I don't know y u got offended by this

+1 FTW!!! SWYPE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

I didint think I could give up a hard keyboard but after using Swype on my Optimus S I couldnt ever go back to a hard keyboard. I had hard keyboard phones starting with the Apache, then Titan, then Pro, then Pro2. Now I shutter at the thought of a hard keyboard. They just add so much bulk to the phone. But dont get me wrong either, If you need a hard keyboard... Then you need a hard keyboard. My preferences changed as I explored other options.

BTW: This should be moved to Phone Comparison forum. Just sayin....

responses are in bold and I don't know y ur on my case alot lately especially since I was the biggest supporter of ur rom.

Wow you guys who mentioned about the Arrive keyboard,
gave me high expectations,
but when I tried it out at the "BestBuy" store,
it was all shot down with huge dissapointment!

The Arrive keyboard is a fake facsimily of the real TP2 keyboard.
It is a huge single bubble layer membrane that pretends to look like the TP2 with independent buttons.
The and press and feel is shallow and much less useful.
It doesn't come close to the TP2, and is a step back in my opinion.
Also the buttons looked slightly scraped by the sliding tiltscreen.
The only thing that I could say as an excuse,
is that it was a "display model"...

Edit: even though it was a let-down,
I would still prefer it to any Samsung (Epic&Transform) keyboards.

I was under the impression that the Arrive keyboard was virtually the same as the TP2. What a bummer!!!

3g is sufficient a lot of times but 4g is still better..If I have a file thats like 200mb, I would spend hours downloading it, on 4g its minutes.

2) it has poor battery optimization in Android out of the box.
Not really, depends...on the Epic we have something called "4G Idle" which allows 4g to idle conserving battery life. (this feature is not on the Evo, nto sure about the shift)..that said when I turn on 4g the web becomes a lot faster and downloads are a lot faster, its not something you need on all the time but it helps when its needed.

typing on the touchscreen keyboard on the arrive or any wp7 device is a whole world of difference when compared to the one on the tp2. because the arrive uses a capacitive screen which is more accurate and touch sensitive than the resistive screen on the tp2. the screen keyboard in wp7 is also being regarded as the best and most accurate stock touch keyboard
Not exactly..Resistive screens are more accurate then capacitive screens..the problem is they are too accurate..I mean down to the pixel accurate..not to mention in early days there was no way to do multitouch on them...resistive screens have improved to incorporate multitouch but it was too late to actch up.

it is, take it from someone who's owned the device for almost 3 mos not from someone who spent 3 minutes on a display model at best buy of all places.

Re: What should I replace my Sprint TP2 with?

Well I hope I am wrong,
but just googling pics you can see two versions of the keyboard.
The real lookong one and the cheapo one I tried..

Re: What should I replace my Sprint TP2 with?

that and it is freaking tiny. its like a phone for the guy on the burger king commercial who is afraid to eat a whopper because it is too big for his tiny hands.
im not sure if it really is, its just the impession i get.

Well my anniversary has been reached and I have $150 available toward a new phone but I am still undecided. :???:

I would still like an HTC slider model to replace the TP2.
