This version of swype works fine with 2.2 as I am running it right now and it even has the mic button..

A guy i work with got the AT&T version of the Galaxy S and I really wasn't that impressed with the screen. At least not as much as I thought and well frankly the screen looked small compared to my EVO :D

the epic has much better specs but it's a crappy samsung with ugly touchwiz.

That may be true but considering you can install many different launchers from the market touchwiz isn't much of an issue really.

Thanks for the tip, but 1.56 has issues with 2.2. I'm glad it's working for you, but I've had bad results. I know there is a 1.6 swype beta somewhere. Maybe that will fix it.

Also, swype 1.56 prevents my phone from sleeping. I had to wipe my phone three times to determine this.. that was a pain.

To add to the topic. I have NEVER liked HTC's build quality.. period. They are the Chevy of smartphones IMHO. I had a Samsung i730. it was build like a tank. Still works to this day.

Maybe they're hoping to snatch the customers that were not a fan of the Evo. Plus with the Evo on backorder, they probably want those people waiting to jump to the Epic. Its all about $$

That video was horrible....i doubt I will dump my evo for this. The keyboard doesn't look good I wish it didn't have it like the gsm versions of the phone.

Old Touch Pro 2 users will flock to this phone in heartbeat...that's a giving...yet I am not one of them. I'm actually hoping this allows the Evo to get in stock at a higher capacity....since they will probably be alot of people that were wanting the Evo but are now going to go for the Epic...who knows...only time will tell.

They were trying to push the "benefits" over the EVO because they are trying to push some of the EVO demand over to the Epic.
