I'll ditch my TP2 for the Evo IF we can port WP7!
So I understand that the TP2 hardware won't run WP7 worth a squat, but what about the Evo?
I don't want to ditch Windows yet because I use my phone for business and I'm hoping the business edition of WP7 will rock. What are the chances of getting the BETA of WP7 ported over to the Evo? I would buy it in a heartbeat then! Anyone else with me? P.S. I would have posted in the Evo forum but there are so many anti-windows/pro-android fanboys over there it makes me sick :protest: |

By the time WP7 is readily available, I'm sure something superior to the Evo will be available...

if wp7 has the same restrictions as windows mobile currently does (which im sure it will) is will essentially be illegal to port without the proper licensing which can get exspensive. might as well just wait a purchase a wp7 device
"Q: Can you run Windows Mobile on Android Phones? A: With enough resources given, sure. Will it ever happen? No. Why? Windows mobile compiler and builder cost $. As a matter of fact, as of version 5, it was going to cost me $75 per device. That's one of the reasons why handset makers went to Android open platform. Android is free and universal so as long as you use certain chipsets and certain items, you are good to go. Can it ever be ported? Sure. With right amount of time and money anything can be done. But at this point, it's cheaper for you to go buy a windows mobile smartphone." |

Re: I'll ditch my TP2 for the Evo IF we can port WP7!
Isn't there a rumor of a dual core snapdragons and 1.5ghz coming with wp7...
that said wp7 is not windows mobile anymore or aimed at businesses..it is a social media/game phone... At the moment Microsoft Windows Embedded Compact 7 is probably a lot closer to winmo then wp7... |

Re: I'll ditch my TP2 for the Evo IF we can port WP7!
I would definitely get this phone today if I could put WM6.5.5 on it now and WP7 later. Android has a lot of promise but right now, for my needs, that is all android has. My old Touch WM let's me make BT voice dial calls now, it has for years. My phone before that let me do it to. Android 2.2 is going to get this with limitations however you'll lose the sense overlay for the EVO which makes Android tolerable if you want Android 2.2 on the EVO any time soon. I have fantastic integration now with e-mail, the sense overlay helps to get around the sad integration with Exchange that Android versions prior to 2.2 have. Android 2.2 will be better than previous versions - almost as good as what WM has had for years. Of course WM is bad for battery conservation but Android is even worse!
WM is much more oriented for what I use my phone for than Android is. Perhaps by Android 2.4 they'll have that huge gap filled in but right now I'd rather have WM and in the near future WP7. However I'd also be very happy to get a 4G iphone on Sprint as well so I'm not stuck on MS products. I'm sure there will be some trolls who would say but WM is soo old and I agree it is but the NEW Android still doesn't do what I need my phone to do as well as OLD WM. Again, while Android 2.3 or 2.4 or 2.5 may be all that and a bag o' chips - I want to use my phone NOW and WM does all that NOW. WP7 looks better than WM in a few ways but for my needs android doesn't really do anything I want better even with 2.2. |

I thought iphone people were fanboys when the very first iphone was being released but I've never seen so much fanboyism as those who post for Android. Maybe they are angry the iphone only is available on ATT and hate the ATT service or maybe they hate WM because it is an MS product but you never see them slamming Symbian, BB or Palm -they seem focused on iphone and WM for whatever reason. I support end users with just about every phone OS you can think of and besides the palm pre, I don't think I've seen nearly as many phones returned by my clients as the android phones. That doesn't make android a bad OS - just not right for most business end users. I really think the iphone is a great phone but for coverage, att is pretty bad. I keep having to lend my phone to iphone users so they can make phone calls. |
