The Evo is 10 times better then the Iphone it's the OS that should concern you.....I love the iPhone OS this is y i have a 64gb iPod touch but as far as a cellular network I go with the HTC Evo on Sprint........

They are different, yet similar. It's all about personal preference. I would suggest you play with each unit.

You have to consider the provider too, their network, your access to it, the cost of service, etc.

If you are already on AT&T you might as well get an iPhone. Same goes if you are already on Sprint, test out the EVO, you have 30 days to return it if it doesn't meet your expectations.

One thing I can say, is either unit has their own qualities and can be fun to use. Depending on what you're looking to use them for.

There is no answer to this question I don't know why people even ask it. This is something you need to decide for yourself no one can answer it for you. If you ask the question in the EVO forum you already know the response your going to get. GO ask in the IPhone forum and see what response you get. With that said your in the EVO forum so YES its better than the ifony.

later today we will know what the new iphone will be offering so hard to say at this point. But the Evo beats the 3GS for sure.

It is better in every conceivable way, go mess with both you will pay less for service and love your phone way more with the evo win/win

evo is amazing but others say iphone is amazing.. personal preference i guess... if you want a huge variety of cases then go with the iphone, if you want a kick ass phone then get the evo.. again my opinion

no matter what phone you get, people will compare it to the iphone. people are calling the evo "sprints iphone". however they are completely different. like stated earlier, its about the OS. its about what works for you. the only reason the iphone is as big as it is, is because apple was smart enough to limit there os to being on just their phones while android is an open community. however,the evo phone has more features physically but you will have to find an os that suits you.

on another note. the iphone hd (known as iphone 4g) will release between july 8-11 and will have many of the specs of the evo. so you shouldnt just buy the evo for physical reasons. but me being a person that has owned both iphone 3gs and evo. im sold on the evo. i love android. i love this phone. the iphone became a bore over time!

I have nothing to say about the iPhone as a device, but keep these two things in mind:

Sprint > ATT
Android > iPhone OS

big different. the new IPHONE 4G is just a name for it's fourth generation for iphone family. It does not use 4G internet connection. On the other hand, the HTC EVO 4G really use actual 4G connection and have the ability to install many apps. Bottom line, the EVO is 1,000 times better........

i may be wrong, but i dont think its called iphone 4g. i think thats what people just seem to call it since the evo is on the 4g networks. because people come to me asking do e have the spring 4g (meaning the evo). i think the actual name is the iphone hd

EVO Battery vs. Competition
 

So the new iphone is launching right now and that is the most logical competition and here are some specs:

6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing ,10 hours of video, 40 hours of music, 300 hours of standby

What the hell do they know that no one else knows? I want battery life like that!

IMO yes, by leaps and bounds.

My brother, my wife, and most of my friends have the Iphone 3g.
All of them have played with my Evo, I'd say 80%-90% of them (my wife and brother included), agree the Evo is a better device and operates on a better network.

Since my wife has the Iphone, I've been able to play with it quite a bit, and their isn't a chance in hell that I would swap my Evo for one. Honestly, I don't see the Iphone 4G being much of an improvement either.

Good point. I appreciate your perspective. I actually had a friend checking out my EVO a couple hours...his reponse, "Man, I can't wait till October so I can hop on Android and get rid of this iphone". Don't worry, I congratulated him with an ass pat.

Dont get me wrong, I love this phone but the battery really has me irked. I mean, we dont even get decent battery life with moderate use and there is something else out there with ridiculous battery life.

Im watching it live now. The specs do look pretty impressive, and the iMovie app is cool. I'll give credit where its due.

Blah Blah Blah ...Pros out way cons. I have my old TP2 battery so I keep a backup. Once we get more customs ROMS battery life will improve.

Looks pretty good, they've always done a good job at resolution. Big 'ol battery, interested to see how much life folks actually get. Always important.

So far, it is not that far ahead of the EVO though. A4 has a slight edge on the SnapDragon, hard to tell about the camera's, need side by side comps.

I think that Apple has better hardware then any other phone manufacture but I don't like the walled garden that Apple wants to keep you in, Google believes in open source, Apple has way to many restictions and so does AT&T.

I have taken the same picture with both phones and the iphone's looks closest to a real camera. I find all HTC cameras to be the same, a bit grainy and a bit too flat of an image. Other than camera and battery life, no phone can even compare to an HTC

I am still waiting for Steve Jobs to say all the carriers are getting it - I don't see it happening. How can they not open up iphone to all carriers? I do like my evo though! iphone4 does look like a cool phone but so far haven't seen anything it really has that the evo can't do.

Just wrapped up and I'm not impressed. Don't get me wrong the phone looks cool but this is just a 4th gen iphone not a 4g iphone. Still same crappy network and video chat only over wi-fi? I'm sure AT&T's craptastic network would explode if they opened up video calling on it.

I'll stick with my evo - I will prob get an ipod touch 4th gen I do like my ipod but would never get at&t.

I think the facetime and new back camera are probably better but not much else. Apple is really good about having things work just about perfectly.

UUUUHHH no! Did you see the part about their video call only working over wifi? This means we can use fring over 3g 4g wifi whatever not them. THey do have better screen resolution but a smaller screen. Still no real multitasking. And STILL stuck on ATT who just downgraded their data to 2gig at the max no unlimited at all. WE are doing better at Sprint even with the extra 10 fee.

I actually think so. But demo's under ideal conditions do not beat real world tests. As you saw, you cannot make a video call without being connected to wifi so that is one downfall. Currently we can make this happen with ease.

Also when the wifi was crowded the stream was choppy and Job's was consistently telling them to log off the wifi network so the demo could run smooth. This will not be the case when you dont want to leave Starbuck's because your video call will be dropped.

Great software though. I would love to see a port of this on Android. Can we get some iMovie?... lol.
