Dump TP2 for Nexus One or HD2?

I was able to get out of my Sprint contract yesterday. I am wondering if I should switch to TMO and get the Nexus One or should I wait for the HD2? I love the SERO pricing I am getting on the TP2, but the TP2 sucks when it comes to loading web pages, its just so slow and the WinMo apps suck.

So my choices now are Nexus One, HD2, Iphone 3Gs jailbroken for T-Mobile. What would you guys do?

rushco 01-18-2010 09:42 PM

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.5(Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/16643; U; en) HTC_Touch_Pro2)

I would go with the nexus if you can trouble shoot your own problems.

Considering that you recently started a thread about how much you love the iPhone and would switch to it if it came to Sprint or Verizon, why not just go with an iPhone?

in your case i would definitely recommend nexus. the hd2 is going to be no different then the tp2 except faster processing power, but the apps and os aren't changing in the least. Loading web pages will be extremely improved but the winmo apps aren't going anywhere and aren't getting any better anytime soon.

so therefore it isn't an hd2. hd2 = windows mobile

supersonic= android.

different operating systems = completely different phone.

The only thing holding me back from the iPhone is they might have a newer version coming out soon so it will probably take a while for the hackers to jailbreak it. So far the Nexus One is looking good. I'll wait too see what Apple is coming out with at the end of the month before I do anything.

I doubt it'll run on SERO since they seem to block all Androids on the Sero plan. Without SERO, T-Mobile is actually cheaper especially when I can get a 15% discount through my school. I just need to find away to get the 5.99 T-Zone trick to work.

With all carriers dropping service pricing due to the economy, Sprint is stupidly hurting itself by trying to purposely get rid of its SERO customers. I know they aren’t making much from 30 bucks a month, but its better than getting nothing. If MetroPCS can make money on similar pricing, than I don’t see why Sprint can’t either.

i would have to agree, something is better then nothing. When the hd2 comes out i'm going to tmobile because i really want that phone, if sprint doesn't let me keep my sero plan when a phone that i want comes out, i'm going to cancel the line altogether.

Sprint is going to go out of business with that WiMax junk since all the carriers are going to LTE including VZW. What this means is all the good phones will go to LTE and Sprint will get the crappy phones since they have a small market share.

I don't know about going out of business. I never use Wifi and would never use WiMax on any phone. At least not in the part of the US I am located. I get 3g everywhere I travel. On a notebook however, I would use WiMax. Bring on the LTE FTW

Sounds like a personal issue. iPhone, Android, WinMO, WebOS etc, its all a damn phone with some fancy features, people need to grow up and realize that. You guys take stuff way too seriously. I have always had WinMo (probably longer than 95% of you) and liked it before, but its dead now, its old and hasn't kept up with the times. Maybe in another year if WinMo 7 comes out things will change, but right now, its total garbage and that's why M$ gave up on it and is starting fresh.

Dude, I'm not coming on here to start fights over phones, I like technology because I like new stuff. If somehow I've hurt your feelings by stating WinMo is old and outdated, than I apologize. No need to call me a troll for having an opinion that you don't agree with.

I’ve been with ATT (blue) than was switched to Cingular than was switched back to ATT (Orange) for about 7 years until last year I managed to get out of my iPhone contract because I had real bad 3G service in my area. So last year I signed up with Sprint Sero for the first time and got a TP1. When I was with ATT, I had the WinMo 02 XDA II phone (blue angel) than switched to a WinMo Hermes phone. I was a big basher of iPhones at the time because I hate it when they overhype products, but than I said let me try it out to see what the fuss was all about and got an iPhone 3G to see if it actually is better than my Windows phones. God, it was like night and day. It was so smooth and fun to use while the my old Hermes was so clunkly and the constant resets on the WinMo phones were getting on my nerves.

Now I am thinking of trying out the Android to see if it’s as good as what they say, I might jump to Tmobile and try out the Nexus One since I can get a 15% discount from my school account. At work about 5 engineers in my workgroup jumped to the Moto Droid through VZW and they seem to enjoy it.

I was thinking dumping the Sprint Sero and get a 69.99 Sprint plan and applying some corporate discount, but even the Android phones from Sprint seem retarded compared to the Nexus One with that snapdragon.

i'm not sold on android yet either. my wife has the moment, the phone is already being replaced by sprint because everytime she gets a text while talking on it, it hangs up. the battery life stinks, and it's slower than my tp2(yes, i've done the testing myself). but it has potential, right now it's the new kid on the block.

I've never downloaded movies or MP3 on my WinMo phones, I prefer to leave my laptop on at home and download off bittorrent sites instead of killing my phones battery.

Hey Dr., you know T-Mo has a deal for 79.99, you get unlimited Talk, Text and Web. Plus if you can get hold of a school account, you can get 15% off. So 79.99-11.99 (15%)= $ 68 for unlimited beats sprint.

Also I heard there is a T-Zones hack you can try that will let you get unlimited web for 5.99.

and carrier bashing go!

haha, what everything starts to boil down to around here.

I won't be changing phones until we see if they'll pop the dual core A9 processor in a phone. thats roughly a year away to finding out.

And I'm keeping WMo as of all the OS's I've played with, only Maemo allowed as much easy customization and hacking.

not true, there isn't a comcast app, citibank app, or so many more companies. The main companies still only have iphone apps. Android apps are fun apps. If you go to any website you never see android apps only iphone apps.
